ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Phetjeeja is among the millions of fight fans eager to see how the main event of ONE Championship’s next premiere event plays out.

On Friday, June 7, atomweight MMA queen Stamp Fairtex will defend her throne against friend-turned-rival Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga in the banner bout of ONE 167 inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Phetjeeja gave her perspective on Stamp vs. Zamboanga Matchup

Ahead of the highly anticipated showdown, Phetjeeja offered her thoughts on how she thinks it will go down.

“I think it’ll be a great match,” she said.

“Stamp is more superior when it comes to striking. She’s another well-rounded fighter, and her power is unmatched.

“If it comes to ground game, I think it will be a close match, and for sure an exciting moment for all of us. I think Stamp has more strength, though. She’ll be able to dominate the ground game.”

Stamp claimed both the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Titles before she decided to move to MMA. So Phetjeeja’s belief that her Thai compatriot will have an advantage on the feet is certainly based in reality.

If the ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion has a weakness, some believe it is in her grappling. This would give Zamboanga an edge, given that her skills in that area are clear for all to see.

Stamp’s potential path to glory

“The Menace” has utilized her ground game to great effect in all seven of her bouts in the world’s largest martial arts organization so far, leaving her sitting comfortably as the #2-ranked contender in the atomweight MMA division.

Nonetheless, Phetjeeja is confident about how the ONE 167 main event will end.

“I think Stamp will be able to defend her title. It can be a KO,” she said.

A quick finish will do Stamp well, as she is set to challenge Chinese superstar Xiong Jing Nan for the ONE Women’s Strawweight MMA World Championship just a few months later at ONE 168: Denver in September.

For her part, Phetjeeja is still awaiting her first challenger to the atomweight kickboxing crown she won in a World Title unification bout against Janet Todd at ONE Fight Night 20 this past March.

Who it will be is up for debate. But Stamp has hinted at a return to the striking at some point, so fans may get to see her collide with “The Queen” in the future.
