?My favorite thing when I was living in Thailand the past two months was hanging out at PK Saenchai because it was all up-and-coming, young, hungry fighters, and they were all at the gym grinding together,? Musumeci told ONE in an interview. ?So whenever I was there, I would feel their energy of that grinding, tough feeling.??This would go on to influence his preparations for his next fight.
While ?Darth Rigatoni? is known for the tireless work ethic that has helped him become arguably the best grappler on the planet today, he admits that training in Muay Thai pushed him in a different way. Enduring the pain of learning the ins and outs of such an intense sport is never easy.
However, Musumeci believes that being able to share it with a group of highly motivated people helped him get through it and inspire him to find a new gear in his BJJ training. ?While you?re dying and suffering [in Muay Thai training], everyone else is too, so it builds that camaraderie.”
“You?re dying, but it?s a vibe of everyone dying together, so it?s not as hard, and you feel hungry. Everyone is showing up every day to train, so why are you not? You should be there also, so it makes you motivated,? he recalled.
