The MMA world is keeping a close eye on the upcoming UFC 302 event, particularly the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier. This interest extends beyond just fans, even alluring the attention of other MMA fighters like the three-weight division champ, Anatoly Malykhin. The ONE Championship fighter who also shares a good relationship with Islam Makhachev, recently appeared in an interview on the YouTube channel Ushatayka.

The interview covered a range of topics, including his potential fight in America and his thoughts on Magmod Ismailov. However, the most captivating part came when the interviewer asked for Malykhin’s verdict on the upcoming Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier.

“S0, it’s a bit like Islam is ours; he kind of won,” Malykhin told the host. He continued, explaining that while many people support “The Wolf” (Khamzat Chimaev), he doesn’t understand why some fans switch allegiance. “I don’t understand this, and I always try to support our guys. Especially at such a high level,” he said. “In a fight with someone else, I will 100% be rooting for Islam.”

UFC champ Makhachev ranks Malykhin above all others

That’s right! Believe it or not, the current pound-for-pound king, Islam Makhachev, called the three-division ONE Champion, Anatoly Malykhin, the “most dangerous man on the planet” back in March via his Instagram story. Makhachev used his Instagram story to explain why he believes Malkhin is on a level above everyone else.

Malykhin’s record and his collection of belts certainly justify Makhachev’s words. There’s no doubt that “Sladkiy” is one of the most dangerous fighters in MMA, with a perfect 14-0 record, boasting both submission and knockout victories. While he’s world-renowned for his freestyle wrestling mastery, he often prefers to stand and trade punches, showcasing his striking prowess.
