Marcus Almeida is on the path back to redemption. After facing the toughest test of his young MMA career in his last ONE Championship outing, ‘Buchecha’ wants to get back to winning ways. The Brazilian grappling legend dominated his first four opponents in the Asia-based promotion.

Moreover, he finished each fight within the first round, and he was propelled into the World Title conversation in the heavyweight MMA division as a result. However, Almeida’s dominant run in ONE came to a crushing end against ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane. Their fight took place this past August at ONE Fight Night 13. The Senegalese behemoth gave him all he could handle through three rounds of intense action before taking the unanimous decision victory.

‘Buchecha’ reflected on the battle in a recent interview with BJPenn.com, and he outlined how loss is an integral part of the process when undertaking a new journey. “MMA is such a big challenge, and it’s new. It is something to look forward to. I have a chance to do something great, and that’s why I decided to go into MMA,” he said.

“My last fight was my worst appearance in MMA, but it was a good experience and good learning.” While he may no longer carry an undefeated record, Almeida’s skills still cannot be ignored, especially considering his jaw-dropping run of form so far in his MMA career.

Almeida is sharpening his best tools!

Almeida is still very much in the fight in ONE’s ever-evolving heavyweight MMA ranks. Further, he is focused on putting further work into his most effective tool to come back stronger than ever.

The famed gym has a roster of World Champions across multiple disciplines, and it has been crucial to Almeida’s development in MMA. As such, he aims to spend even more time there going forward.

“I would love to go back to Evolve MMA to train because it’s the perfect place to train,” he said. “I hope in my next fight, I can spend time there again.
