Reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 is brimming with confidence ahead of his blockbuster World Title defense against Japanese megastar Takeru “The Natural Born Crusher” Segawa.

The 28-year-old Thai hopes to give a rude welcome to the promotional newcomer this Sunday, January 28, when the two clash in the main event of ONE 165.

That contest goes down in Takeru’s backyard at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena. In addition to the thousands of Japanese faithful that will be there live to support their local hero, “The Natural Born Crusher” will bring with him a mountain of hype and lofty expectations with him into his much-anticipated ONE debut.

A former three-division Kickboxing World Champion renowned for his explosive and dynamic style of striking, Takeru is widely regarded among the best kickboxers in history. Superlek, though, isn’t letting his foe’s many accolades shake his confidence. He said: “For Takeru, I’m not intimidated by him. There are things I just need to be careful of. There’s nothing to be scared of because I don’t get scared in the ring.”

Indeed, “The Kicking Machine” has no shortage of world-class experience under his belt. Fresh off an unforgettable victory over his compatriot Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon, Superlek is a veteran of well over 150 fights and comes into the contest riding an impressive eight-fight winning streak.

Given his sustained success at the highest levels of striking, it comes as no surprise that the Kiatmoo9 Gym representative isn’t overly concerned about what Takeru will bring to the table– and he certainly isn’t buying into the hype.

Despite his opponent’s dangerous speed and combination striking, Superlek trusts in his trademark bone-crushing kicks to carry him to victory at ONE 165. He added, “[Takeru] and I have different styles. I’m slower but I have heavy weapons to save me.”

He then proceeded to lay out his game plan. He said, “My stronger points would be my more powerful kicks. My kicks are powerful and can be effective against anyone. So, I could kick his legs to stop him from moving or slow him down.”

Given two of the best kickboxers would enter the ring to decide the top dog of the flyweight division of ONE Championship, who is your favorite to win the fight?
