Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida became a living legend in grappling thanks to his tireless effort to be the best, so it’s no surprise he’s doing the same thing in mixed martial arts. The Brazilian fighter is getting ready to return to action at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs Grigorian on Friday, August 4, where he’ll face Senegalese monster “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane in heavyweight action clash inside the historic halls of the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Heading into the contest, “Buchecha” is in good spirits, as his training is going according to plan, much like all of his camps so far.

Marcus Buechecha Almeida wants to dominate with another win at ONE Fight Night 13

“I’m preparing very well. The training has been excellent – as well as [how it] went to previous fights,” he said in an interview with ONE. “I train everything. I really like to train wrestling, the jiu-jitsu, which will always be my flagship, and striking. Nothing changed. I keep doing the same training. The emphasis is being on the overall context.”

“I am feeling pretty good, but there’s still [a few] weeks left for the fight, so I’m sure that I’m going to get even better, and I’m going to arrive on the day of the fight more than prepared.” The 33-year-old has been utterly dominant in ONE’s heavyweight division thus far. He has stopped all four of his opponents in the first round, with his latest victory coming at the expense of former ONE World Title challenger Kirill Grishenko at ONE on Prime Video 1 last August.

With such success, it’s natural that Almeida just wants to continue doing what he has been doing since his arrival at the Singapore-based promotion in 2021. The American Top Team representative says his training roster has remained the same as they push him to be better all the time.

Marcus Buchecha Almeida has held onto the same training team for a similar outcome

“My training, since my MMA debut, has been done at American Top Team, and for this fight, it’s no different. Nothing has changed in my camp. I’m training wrestling with Steve Mocco, Muay Thai with Katel Kubios. Boxing with Ivan de Oliveira, [and] Conan Silveira, who is the head coach at ATT and is always closely following the training, and the physical preparation is being done with Diego Lacerda. I’m feeling very strong, explosive, so the camp is exactly like the previous fights,” he said.

“My training partners are also the same: Marcos Rogério “Pezão,” who is also scheduled to fight at the same time as me, Augusto Sakai, Marcelo Golm, Said Sowma, and Antônio ‘Cara de Sapato’ [Carlos Junior]. These are the ones I am training with more. But, of course, there’s Junior ‘Cigano’ [dos Santos], Vitor Resende, Renan ‘Problema,’ who are also here with us. There are a lot of people. So, it’s been very good.”

ONE Fight Night 13 will be broadcast live and free on Prime Video for fans across North America with an Amazon subscription.
