Reigning ONE Lightweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Regian Eersel has firmly established himself as one of the planet’s top pound-for-pound strikers, so it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about success in combat sports.

This Friday, June 9, “The Immortal” will look to extend his incredible 21-fight winning streak and defend his lightweight Muay Thai crown when he squares off with Russian knockout artist Dmitry Menshikov in the main event of ONE Fight Night 11 on Prime Video live in U.S. primetime from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

And while he’s certainly not looking past the challenger before him, Eersel is able to think ahead years into the future and envision passing along his wisdom to the next generation as a coach, whether it be in his native country of Suriname or his adopted home of the Netherlands.

The 30-year-old said:

“Maybe in eight years or 10 years [I will start teaching]. I would like to share my knowledge when I go to retirement.

“First, I will do it in the country that I’m living in – the Netherlands. But you never know, maybe we can start also in Suriname. The goal is to start a gym or a team, share my knowledge, and hope that I can pass it on to future fighters.”

Wise words from Regian Eersel

The two-sport kingpin certainly has plenty of knowledge to give.

Unbeaten since 2016 and the owner of nine thrilling victories in ONE, Eersel has faced no shortage of doubters and critics on his journey to the top of the striking world.

Along the way, he’s never once wavered in his unending self-belief, always confident that his world-class skills and determination would carry him to greatness.

It’s that faith in oneself and devotion to big goals that Eersel hopes to pass along to future fighters.

He added:

“The first [piece of advice I’d give them] is to keep believing in their dreams. If you want to reach the top of the world, you have to believe in yourself and surround yourself with people that believe in you also, or who have the same dreams. When you have that, the road to your dream will be a lot easier.”
