ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai is brimming with confidence, just days away from his first next battle on Friday, February 24. The Thai hero puts his gold on the line against Dagestani-born striker Jamal “Yeniceri” Yusupov in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II on Prime Video.

This battle, broadcasting live on American primetime from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, will be the divisional king’s first World Title defense. As a result, there is a growing concern about whether he will feel the heat and subsequently bite the dust inside the Thai capital.

Tawanchai PK.Saenchai was chilled out regarding his bout against Jamal Yusupov

Tawanchai admits he hasn’t felt any pressure heading into this contestHe is more determined than ever to get his World Championship reign off to a flying start, though.

“I wouldn’t say that I am under a lot of pressure. But I will never underestimate my opponent and have prepared myself well,” the 23-year-old offered. So I would like to succeed in defending my title this time.”

Yusupov, almost 20 years his senior, has shared the ring against some of the biggest names in the sport, including Marouan Toutouh, Alim Nabiev, and ONE Lightweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Regian “The Immortal” Eersel. And since joining the ONE roster, “Yeniceri” has continued his rapid rise with a 3-0 record, two decision wins, and a sensational knockout of Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex in his promotional bow.

But while Yusopov’s resume and experience mean that the contender will be fully prepared for Tawanchai’s arsenal, the reigning king feels he has it within himself to rack up another memorable victory inside the Circle. After all, Tawanchai spots a 4-1 record in ONE Championship, achieving three of his four victories by putting his opponents to sleep.

There are plenty of ways he can once again secure a knockout and a victory when their showdown ONE Fight Night 7 gets underway. Tawanchai, however, does not want to give away too much of his plan.
