ONE Championship star Tayfun Ozcan competes in one of the most stacked divisions in kickboxing, and he wants his record to reflect the elite status he holds in the sport. “Turbine” will get a chance to pick up his most important win to date when he takes on Superbon Singha Mawynn in a featherweight clash at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video this Friday, June 9.

The Turkish-Dutch striker has over 80 professional wins under his belt but has only won once in three outings since making his ONE debut in October 2021.

Tayfun Ozcan wants  to get back to wins after a disappointing ONE Championship start

Nonetheless, he’s hungry to make a name for himself and willing to take on anyone to do it. “What the most important thing for me is, I had a bad start at ONE, obviously, and I wasn’t mentally there the first couple of fights,” Ozcan said in an interview with ONE Championship.
“It wasn’t nice, but now I can’t accept that my ONE career is two losses to one win. I cannot accept that. And honestly, I don’t care who they put in [front of] me now because I would accept every fight just to make up [for the losses].” Despite his less-than-dazzling run in The Home of Martial Arts so far, the 31-year-old has made a good account of himself through his three appearances.

He went down to a close split decision to Thai star Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in his debut and rebounded well against former K-1 Champion Enriko Kehl four months later. “Turbine” fell to a heartbreaking unanimous decision loss to Marat Grigorian in his last outing at ONE on Prime Video II, but that defeat gave him a good taste of the caliber of talent that the Singapore-based promotion offers.

The Siam Gym representative is not one to stay down, but he’s also not one to pat himself on the back for a good performance in a fight he lost. Far from wanting to hang with the best his division has on offer, Ozcan wants to beat them.

“[Giorgio] Petrosyan, Sitthichai, Marat, Superbon, Chingiz – it’s like the Champions League. That’s the division that we’re in. You watch the Champions League final, you see 1-1 or 1-0. It always comes close. It’s painful, but it is what it is. They are losses,” he said.

“You know, 10 years, you look back, everyone sees a loss. It doesn’t matter if it’s close or not. They are losses. And I don’t want to end my ONE career with more losses than wins. I never had that, so I cannot accept it,” he added.
