The 22-year-old burst onto the global scene last year, winning five straight in dominant fashion, including a five-round drubbing of striking legend Anissa Meksen to claim the ONE Interim Atomweight Kickboxing World Title. She will now battle the long-reigning titleholder “JT” in a blockbuster, all-female event on International Women’s Day.
Phetjeeja recognizes the opportunity as the biggest of her career and her chance to elevate herself in a sport that has historically been male-dominated. She said, “My goal for 2024 is to fight on a higher level and to get more fight money. Because in Thailand female fighters are paid much less than males.”
“The Queen” began her ONE tenure with three consecutive knockouts in under two rounds. After that, she stopped Australian veteran Celest Hansen in the third round and went the distance with Meksen. Always striving for greatness and perfection, Phetjeeja says she can do better: “I’m not satisfied with my two latest performances, so I need to work harder to make sure I won’t lose in ONE. Because we only have the best female strikers in ONE. So I need to improve myself more.”

Lukjaoporongtom plans to run for Muay Thai gold
With a lifetime of Muay Thai under her belt, the interim atomweight kickboxing queen will come into ONE Fight Night 20 looking for her 207th career victory. While she’s shown a prodigious aptitude for the sport of kickboxing, Phetjeeja hopes to soon return to her Muay Thai roots and pursue two-sport gold in the future.
Not stopping there, “The Queen” says she’s also open to a special rules fight, perhaps mixing Muay Thai and MMA together in a unique contest: “After my fight with Janet, I may try to run for Muay Thai gold. I want to become a two-sport world champion too. Oh, and I want to try special rules fights too. But I don’t have any MMA experience. I used to try MMA once and it really tired me out.” said Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom.
