Marat Grigorian knows no wall is impenetrable, and he’s looking to break down a big one in his upcoming outing in ONE Championship.

The Breda, Netherlands-based fighter, will get his second crack at the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship in the main event of ONE Fight Night 13 this Friday, August 4, but this time against a familiar rival in Chingiz Allazov.

It will mark the third time Grigorian and Allazov have been paired together, and the first time in a decade. Their first encounter ended in a no-contest ruling, but their rematch saw Grigorian take a unanimous decision win. Since then, both men have won various titles and tournaments, and they are vastly different fighters than they were in 2013. Heading into the trilogy matchup, Grigorian lays out his views on Allazov’s skill set–and what he hopes to do to score a second victory.

“I think he’s really explosive and fast,” he told ONE Championship. “That’s what makes him very dangerous. He is a good, smart fighter. What can I say? He’s doing very well. But every fighter has his own weak places. So I will try to punish him in those moments of weakness.” The Hemmers Gym standout challenged former titleholder Superbon Singha Mawynn at ONE X last year, but he ultimately couldn’t wrestle the featherweight kickboxing belt away from the Thai star. That loss was a bitter disappointment for the Armenian star. But after a strong showing against Tayfun Ozcan at ONE on Prime Video 2 in October last year, he put himself in a strong position to challenge for the belt again.

Thankfully, when Allazov was given the chance to hand-pick his first challenger to the World Title after he snatched it from Superbon this past January, the Azerbaijani-Belarusian star considered his history with Grigorian and decided to seek redemption. And while he prepares for his second shot at the throne, the upcoming challenger says he’s out to make “Chinga” regret that decision on his way to ultimate glory.

“I trust myself, and I know what I’m able to do. I know I have the power. I know I have the experience. But at this level, it’s very difficult to say [that you can knock your opponent out]. Everything is possible.”
