South Korean knockout artist Kim Jae Woong isn’t intimidated by former ONE Bantamweight World Champion John “Hands of Stone” Lineker.

On August 4, the two hard-hitting finishers will square off in a pivotal MMA showdown that has all the makings of an unforgettable brawl.

Kim Jae Woong is focused on his own game

Set to air live in U.S. Primetime from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this matchup at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian on Prime Video will be Kim’s chance to take out a decorated former title holder and establish himself in the bantamweight top five. But coming off a difficult decision loss to Japanese star Shoko Sato in his last outing, “The Fighting God” says he’s focusing primarily on his own skills rather than what his fan-favorite opponent brings to the table.

The 30-year-old Seoul native said, “Rather than preparing specifically for the upcoming match, I am focusing on training and identifying the areas where I have experienced my shortcomings since the last match. I have always fought confidently and will continue to do so in this match. I believe in myself.” Indeed, confidence has always been key to Kim’s success. With his supremely technical striking game and ruthless finishing instincts, he’s earned a knockout in each of his four ONE victories.

It’s his confident mindset, he says, that will allow him to trade blows with one of MMA’s most feared strikers: “My most dangerous weapon is my warrior’s fearless heart that is unafraid of John Lineker’s fist. I will withstand his powerful striking.” Given each man’s propensity for all-action stand-up wars, fans can likely look forward to a thrilling brawl on Friday night.

A test of skills for both athletes

Kim certainly agrees and, without divulging the specifics of his game plan, says he aims to push the pace against the Brazilian on his way to victory.

He added, “I hope we both do our very best. It will be a difficult match, but I think it will also be fun. Apart from strategy, I want to overwhelm him physically and mentally.”
