Bhullar and Malykhin’s paths have gone on opposite trajectories since the former claimed the top prize in the division back in 2021. While the Indian-Canadian dealt with contract and health issues over the past two years, “Sladkiy” has gone on destroy everyone in his path to claim both the ONE interim Heavyweight and undisputed Light Heavyweight World Championships.
Arjan Bhullar wanted nothing but a knockout victory over his two-year awaiting opponent
Throughout his journey, the Russian monster has constantly called out Bhullar on social media and took a dig on him at every opportunity possible. Now that they are expected to finally get their hands on each other, Bhullar is eager to silence his rival by showing him why he is at the very top of the division.
“He’s been in my life for two years. I want him out, I want him gone. I could have beat him two years ago but we’re here and we’re gonna beat him now. It’s a perfect fight to come back to,” he said in an interview with MMA Underground.
“He’s done what he’s had to do in my absence, and kudos to him. He’s dangerous with his left hand, he’s dangerous with his right hand – two weapons primarily. I had Brandon Vera – he’s dangerous, he’s knocked guys out with his shin, with his knee, with his hands”.

“He’s good off his back, and he couldn’t do nothing to me. Much more danger there, and I stood up with him for a long time. So you could say whatever you want, at the end of the day, I’m slick everywhere it goes, and I can’t wait to show there’s levels to this.”
Arjan Bhullar revealed that this two-year delay would make his victory grander
Their clash appeared inevitable since late 2021, but a host of reasons delayed their actual fight. However, the promotion has grown exponentially over the past two years, and Bhullar believes that the delays will only make his victory sweeter. “It’s going to be a higher profile win. He’s done what he’s done, and he’s had more success and confidence and he’s gonna come in with that. He’s got more eyeballs on him,” he said.

“There’s talk of expansion to new markets before the end of this year. So all those things, I think definitely, it’s a great time to come back. It will be a bigger win now than it would have been two years ago.”
