This Friday, June 9, “The Jaguar” faces undefeated promotional newcomer Mansur Malakhiev at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video, with the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, playing host to the pivotal clash.

Jeremy Miado will be ready to fight anyone ONE Championship throws at him

Miado is riding a four-fight winning streak, and all six of his victories on ONE’s global stage have come by finish. His latest outing was arguably his most important, as he knocked out #5-ranked strawweight Danial Williams at ONE on Prime Video 3 last October. A slip on the scales meant their tussle had to take place at catchweight, preventing the Filipino powerhouse from laying claim to a spot in the stacked division’s rankings. But he remains patient and says his only aim is to fight as much as possible.

“I’ll face whoever they want me to face. I’ll face every single one of the top five contenders if they want me to for as long as I stay active. I plan to take things step by step, and for as long as I continue fighting, I’m fine,” Miado told ONE Championship.

The 30-year-old will certainly have his hands full with Malachiev this weekend. The Dagestan native owns eight finishes in 10 professional wins, thanks to his wrestling roots that come from a nation known for producing some of the world’s best grapplers. He’ll want to announce himself on ONE’s global stage by taking out a known commodity like Miado, and his skill set could see him do just that.

“The Jaguar” remains unfazed, however, as he is sure that he’ll be able to take the match into his comfort zone. “I’m confident that if he takes me down, I can get back up. I can hang with him wherever the match goes, neutralize his advancements and push him to a striking battle, where my advantages are,” Miado said.

While the Marrok Force representative understands that he stands to lose more than he could gain in facing Malachiev in his promotional bow, he believes a decisive win could help him break through to the upper echelon of the strawweight division.

“If I impress, maybe I even get Jarred Brooks. Looking at the rankings, Jarred has pretty much beaten everyone in the top five. So yeah, I’m hoping for a great performance,” Miado said.
