Former two-division ONE MMA World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang is determined to reclaim the ONE World Title. This is evident in his recent verbal jabs at his upcoming opponent, Turkish wrestler Shamil Erdogan. Their highly anticipated fight will take place at ONE 168: Denver at Ball Arena, Colorado, marking Aung La’s second time fighting on US soil.
In his recent YouTube video, Aung La outlined his intentions for Shamil Erdogan, vowing not just to defeat him but to break him. The Thai legend declared, “My plan against the Shamil [Erdogan] is to finish him. I plan on breaking him in the third round.” Aung La, currently on a three-fight winning streak against Yushin Okami, Gilberto Galavao, and Fan Rong, has recovered from setbacks in 2020 and 2021 where he lost both of his belts to Reinier de Ridder consecutively.

However, Shamil Erdogan is no pushover. Since his MMA debut, the Turkish phenom has maintained an undefeated record of 9-0, including his recent win over Fan Rong at ONE Friday Fights 22. Despite this, “The Burmese Python,” has questioned the legitimacy of Erdogan’s win, pointing out that he had previously fought and defeated Fan Rong himself.
Aung La promises career-best performance against Shamil Erdogan
Despite approaching the age of 40, Aung La N Sang’s hunger for victory remains insatiable. The former two-division MMA World Champion is determined to climb the middleweight ranks and reclaim his lost title, currently held by Anatoly Malykhin. Aiming to deliver his career-best, Aung La will face undefeated Shamil Erdogan in a middleweight MMA bout at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.
