Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen returned to winning ways at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II on Prime Video last Friday, February 24. And to him, the victory over Leonardo Casotti was just what he needed to flip the script, regain some much-needed confidence, and begin another charge to the top of the featherweight division.

The 33-year-old said, “Any win does a lot for me by any means necessary. My losses, I will have to avenge them, sooner or later. It does suck to lose. Putting in your bit of work and sacrifice, and it just doesn’t pay off in your favor, and your opponent did better. But I made sure I left no stones unturned in this camp, and we went into preparing to die.”
The strikes from Martin Nguyen proved too much for Leonardo Casotti
The former ONE Featherweight and ONE Lightweight World Champion conquered his opposite number over 15 minutes last week, finding plenty of success in the way he knows best – striking.
After dictating the traffic for most of the opening canto, “The Situ-Asian” ramped up his efforts in the second frame, finding a place for his trademark overhand right again and again.
Casotti absorbed it like a punching bag in the beginning. But as the match approached its final stanza, he was clearly second best to a fierce Nguyen. After three rounds, the Vietnamese-Australian was handed the unanimous decision win.

Martin Nguyen resorted to his fight plan and achieved the win
Speaking on his rival’s durability and how he managed it when they traded in the pocket, he said, “I was surprised. But at the same time, I didn’t want to get too reckless and get caught myself. So, I knew I hurt him a few times, but I didn’t want to go guns blazing and put on a show but also lose a fight.”
“That’s not my style. The main thing was I just kept my guard up. It took me a while; I was expecting something else, and he threw something.” With the victory, Nguyen improved his record to 15-6, and kept his World Title hopes alive.
