Superlek dismisses Haggerty's size—Is mental strength more crucial than physical advantage in MMA?

The highly anticipated ONE 168: Denver is less than a month away, and the fans are super excited about it. One of the biggest attractions of the night is the headlining clash between Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9. The ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title will be on the line as two former rivals lock horns.

Superlek currently holds the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship and is moving up for two-division and two-sport glory. There are very few rivalries in the sport which have gathered the hype like the upcoming one in Denver. Both Haggerty and Superlek have had a bit of history in the past, which started way back in 2018. The Thai superstar managed to beat the 28-year-old in their previous outing and is now fired up to make it 2-0. Superlek and Haggerty intensified their rivalry with their latest interaction at ONE Friday Fights 72. They both sent a clear-cut message to the fans that their second clash would be nothing short of explosive.

The Thai superstar further added fuel to the fire while speaking to Mitch Chilson during an interview. He said, “I am ready. I will have the power to go against Jonathan Haggerty.” Power is what he will indeed need when he takes on the 28-year-old. Haggerty has come a long way in his career since his previous loss against Superlek. Not only has he improved his skill, but also has improved his physicality. He constantly uploads his training videos on Instagram, and it seems ‘The General’ means business. He recently shared a message for his opponent through the social media platform, putting the caption, “I’m on a whole new level. I’m ready to keep what’s mine. @onechampionship 5 weeks to go 🤫 #ANDSTILL 🤴”.
