ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong is among the many combat sports enthusiasts who find the idea of Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg facing off intriguing, but he emphasizes the importance of the right context and setting for such an event.

Sityodtong has previously shared his thoughts on a potential showdown between the tech giants, but he has recently expressed strong disapproval of Musk’s statement that he would visit Mark Zuckerberg’s home to engage in a fight.

In a post on his Facebook page, the Thai-Japanese entrepreneur conveyed that Elon Musk does not exhibit the characteristics of someone who is genuinely trained in martial arts. “Elon said that he was planning to show up at Mark’s house to fight him. Elon is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in history, and I have a lot of respect for his guts, accomplishments, and intellect. However, I dislike bullying of any kind,” Sityodtong wrote.

“Elon genuinely knows nothing about fighting or martial arts, despite his claims to the contrary. As a lifelong expert martial artist who has been in my fair share of scraps, I can tell simply by the way he is acting. The problem with most men who have never fought and/or trained seriously in martial arts is exactly what Elon is doing. They have a false sense of bravado and no understanding or appreciation for what technical skills and knowledge can do in a fight. A legit blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu is very dangerous to someone who knows nothing.”

Besides his accomplishments with ONE, Sityodtong has dedicated a significant portion of his life to practicing Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As a result, he possesses insight into the mindset of true fighters and can distinguish those who are seeking attention from those committed to genuine competition. Sityodtong doubts Musk’s true intention to fight Zuckerberg, pointing out that the 52-year-old mogul has been more active on social media than in actually taking steps toward making the fight materialize.

Chatri Sityodtong thinks Elon Musk is not serious about fighting

“As CEO of the world’s largest martial arts organization and someone involved in the fight game throughout my life, I can discern when people genuinely want to fight or not. When individuals are earnest about fighting, they agree to the challenge and simply show up,” he remarked. “When people are not serious about fighting, they engage in precisely what Elon has been doing—crafting excuses, conditions, and rationales to evade the fight.

Elon has presented a series of bewildering excuses, whether it’s the need for surgery, the insistence on holding it at the Colosseum in Italy, the notion of conducting it through their respective foundations, or even the concept of a backyard practice session.” In an earlier interview, Sityodtong had proposed ONE as a promoter for the highly anticipated bout between Musk and Zuckerberg, and he even suggested collaborating with the UFC to make the event a joint venture.

Regarding the potential outcome of the much-discussed fight, the martial arts innovator shared that despite Elon Musk having a distinct physical advantage over Mark Zuckerberg, he believes that the Meta CEO would exhibit a superior technique. “As all martial artists understand, skill often surpasses size, especially when there’s a significant skill discrepancy. I am not asserting that Mark would win 100%. A fight is a fight. Elon could get lucky. However, my point is that Mark stands a high chance of winning,” Sityodtong concluded.
