Jonathan Haggerty has proven to be one of the best fighters on the planet today, but he’s no longer the only Haggerty making waves in combat sports. 19-year-old Freddie Haggerty made his way to ONE Friday Fights 49 last month and wasted little time in introducing himself to the ONE crowd with a dazzling second-round knockout over Dankalong Sor Dechapan inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
While a lot of fans were surprised at what the young Brit could do, his older brother, Jonathan, was certainly not one of them. In an interview with ONE, “The General” said he knew what his brother could do and is just happy that a lot more people can see it now too.

“Growing up, Freddie has always watched me on the big stage. He’s been there. He’s been to the fights. He’s been to the events. He’s been in the changing room with me. He’s been in training sessions with me. So he knows what it takes. It’s exciting to see, and I can’t wait for his future,” said Haggerty.
“He’s probably one of the best in the roster, in all honesty, technique-wise and with his power. He’s a Mini-Me. He needs a little bit more experience, but then who knows? He will definitely hold the ONE World Title, for sure,” predicted the big brother.
The elder Haggerty brother will be in action next week as he defends the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship for the first time against a heated rival in Felipe Lobo in the main event of ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs Lobo on Friday, February 16, at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Picking up another win would extend his incredible streak to six straight wins and further add to his legacy in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
“The General’s” advice for his brother
The 26-year-old fully understands that his achievements could put an enormous amount of pressure on his brother. However, he has been guiding Freddie to help him carve his own path because he knows that his brother is fully capable of achieving greatness even without his brother’s reputation.
Haggerty said, “[When it comes to the name] I’ve told him, ‘Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. It’s just you getting in there. Think about yourself.’ Yeah, he’s got some hype to live up to, but I’m sure he will. He’s gonna impress people. He’s gonna be great.”

“I just tell him to put in 100 percent into every training session and be dedicated, but he is – he’s so dedicated now. He knows what he wants. He’s seen what I’ve got, and he wants that and more. And just to knock everybody out. Get some spectacular knockouts, some downward elbows, go in there, and show them you’re supposed to be here,” said Haggerty proudly.
