Is Dedduanglek Wankhongohm's shift in tactics a game-changer or just a desperate move?

The highly anticipated card of ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart will also feature a flyweight Muay Thai rematch between Dedduanglek Wankhongohm MBK and Nakrob Fairtex. Nakrob won their first encounter by knockout in the third round on November 17th last year.

The loss had a significant impact on Dedduanglek, as he admitted in a recent interview with the ONE Championship. Determined to redeem himself, the Thai striker expressed the crucial importance of a win against Nakrob at ONE Fight Night 24 to restore his confidence.

Dedduanglek further stated, “I have adjusted my fighting style for this fight to try to use more weapons, including fists and elbows.” The 21-year-old star also revealed he is practicing special elbow attacks specifically for this fight. He explained, “I can’t just keep kicking. The opponent will read my game. I’d like to have more variety with my weapons and make my opponent guess.”

The Wankhongohm MBK athlete has amassed an impressive 5-1 record since debuting in ONE Championship. In his last outing, he defeated Japanese kickboxing star Taiki Naito at ONE Fight Night 21 on April 5th. He is now eager to avenge his lone loss in the organization by defeating Nakrob Fairtex. 

Nakrob Fairtex on Dedduanglek ahead of ONE Fight Night 24

Nakrob Fairtex is brimming with confidence after his victory over Dedduanglek, yet he isn’t underestimating his opponent for their flyweight Muay Thai fight. He has revealed that he is giving Dedduanglek the same level of attention as his other opponents. Furthermore, Nakrob said that he identified flaws in his own moves from their last fight and is anticipating a stronger Dedduanglek who is aware of his weaknesses.

In a recent interview with the ONE Championship, Nakrob talked about his insecurity, revealing, “Even though I won by knockout that day when I looked back to the game, I found that I had to improve my defense I still lack. I can’t let my guard loose again in this fight because he will definitely be better than before.” Nakrob Fairtex boasts a  9-1 record and is currently riding a four-fight win streak that began with his impressive victory over Dedduanglek. He aims to extend his winning run to five.
