This victory earned her a title shot against Danielle Kelly, the current ONE Women’s Atomweight Submission Grappling Champion. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for August 2 during US prime time at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart.
In a recent interview with the ONE Championship, Bastos acknowledged Kelly’s constant activity and her familiarity with the ONE Championship rules as important factors that make her a dangerous opponent.
Eager to win the title, Mayssa Bastos reveals she is still studying Danielle Kelly’s game, adding, “She knows how to use the rules to her advantage, so that makes her very dangerous. I believe that is her strong point. I am still studying her game, so the weaknesses that I saw in her game I will keep to myself for now. But I really believe in the work my team does.”
