That evening, the former featherweight and lightweight kingpin will go toe-to-toe with promotional newcomer Ilya Freymanov inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Aung La N Sang predicts Martin Nguyen’s fight at ONE on Prime Video 2

After suffering back-to-back losses, the Sydney resident returned to winning ways by finishing Kirill Gorobets in his return to the Circle earlier this year.

And Aung La N Sang predicts that his longtime teammate will earn a similar outcome against the Russian knockout artist when ONE returns to U.S. primetime.

“If anything, Gorobets might be a little bit better than Freymanov, but a very similar style fighter,” the former two-division World Champion said.

“You know, the guy has KO power, but I don’t think he’s as powerful as Martin is. And I know Martin’s been working very hard on his boxing and his jiu-jitsu as well. So, I got to lean toward my friend to win this fight.”

Nguyen has built a reputation as one of the most skilled strikers in ONE’s mixed martial arts ranks throughout his time competing at the Singapore-based promotion.

The 33-year-old has put eight rivals to sleep inside the Circle, including Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, and Narantungalag Jadambaa.

Aung La N Sang believes hands separate Martin Nguyen from Ilya Freymanov

While his striking has been one of his most potent weapons, “The Situ-Asian” has shown that he is equally dangerous on the canvas, too.

That said, “The Burmese Python” feels that it will be Nguyen’s striking that will make the difference in his upcoming showdown.

“He’s working hard on his boxing, and his power is going to be an issue for Freymanov,” the Myanmar star said.

“I feel like Freymanov isn’t that powerful. Freymanov’s movement is great. He’s a well-rounded fighter, but I feel like – and I might be wrong – but I feel like he’s a very similar version of his last opponent, Gorobets.”

A second win in a row for Nguyen should see him inch closer to another shot at the featherweight gold currently in the possession of Tang Kai, who defeated Thanh Le at ONE 160 to become the divisional king.
