ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty will look to make history in his next outing in the Singapore-based promotion, and he wants to make sure that his upcoming opponent knows what he’s getting himself into.
“The General” will face bantamweight mixed martial arts king Fabricio Andrade at ONE Fight Night 15: Tawanchai vs. Superbon on Friday, October 6. Both competitors will be hoping to claim the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title when they clash inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Though he now dominates the MMA world, Andrade collected 40 wins in Muay Thai and kickboxing before turning his attention to the all-encompassing sport. The Brazilian upstart has utilized his striking prowess to great success in ONE, but Haggerty believes his rival’s dedication to expanding his skill set will be his downfall when they face each other.
“Fabricio’s been in MMA now for three to four years, so I feel like it’s going to be a bit difficult for him to change over to the kickboxing style. I’ve been on my feet all my life, so I’ve got the advantage,” he told ONE Championship in an interview. “I feel like it’s going to be a good fight. A tough fight. We’re excited about it. He’s making the wrong decision coming over to my world, but we love a trier.”

The British striker is known for producing exciting performances when he comes up against world-class talent, and he shocked the world this past April when he took out former longtime bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 to claim the coveted strap.

For his part, Andrade has produced five finishes in six wins, including four straight victories via knockout. Haggerty is undeterred by this fact, though, and he’s confident he’ll be able to stop “Wonder Boy” before moving on to further supremacy. “Once I win the kickboxing belt against him, I’m definitely going to be calling him out for his MMA belt,” he said. “He feels that he can step over to our world, so after I take this kickboxing belt, I want to come for his MMA belt, for sure.”
