ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Fabricio Andrade knows he will be up against an intelligent fighter when he steps into the ring for his next contest.

At ONE Fight Night 16 on Friday, November 3, ‘Wonder Boy’ is set to take on bantamweight Muay Thai king Jonathan Haggerty for the vacant divisional kickboxing crown inside the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

With both fighters holding gold in their respective sports, the winner of the monumental main event will join the exclusive club of two-sport titleholders in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

As he counts down the days to his shot at making history, Andrade shared his thoughts on what makes ‘The General’ a dangerous opponent for anyone to face. “He is a very technical fighter, and that is one of his strengths. He works well on his opponent’s mistakes,” he told ONE. “But I believe the strong point of his [Muay Thai] game is his feints to land his elbows. But, as it will be a kickboxing fight, he won’t be able to use elbows.”

Haggerty’s vaunted elbows have helped him rise through the ranks in Muay Thai, but his power punches shouldn’t be forgotten about. After all, those heavy hands knocked out the legendary Nong-O Hama to earn him the bantamweight Muay Thai belt earlier this year.

Nonetheless, Andrade is confident that his own striking abilities and power will be difficult for the English star to handle. Throughout his stint in ONE, the 27-year-old has been at his best when standing toe-to-toe with opponents. It’s not all that surprising that he believes he’s a better striker than his opponent, too, considering his striking record of 40-3 holds almost twice as many wins as Haggerty’s overall slate.

The bantamweight MMA king is eager to see what the Knowsley Academy product will do when they face each other, and he expects the cerebral Haggerty to have a strategic approach to try to keep him from unleashing his vicious hands. “It will be interesting to see what different things he can bring to a kickboxing fight. But I think he will fight strategically and try to play a counter game to prevent me from working on my boxing,” Andrade said.
