Over the weekend, Segawa won the ISKA Lightweight World Title in Paris via a fifth-round head kick knockout against UK’s Bailey Sugden, and in an Instagram post, the three-division K1 Champion said that he’s preparing to step into action again soon.

“First 61kg contract, 5R system, overseas challenge. Though I had its challenges, what a great experience I had. Preparing for the next big fight. Will come from stronger,” he wrote.

“The Iron Man” has been rumored to be the Japanese striking star’s first opponent in ONE since his signing was announced, but the flyweight Muay Thai king was quick to quash the idea.
“@k1takeru before you call my name, get some wins in ONE first. I have never seen your belt before. The real champ is here,” he posted. Rodtang advised Segawa to sign with the Singapore-based promotion when he revealed that he was a free agent last October, and the new ISKA World Champion took it to heart. He signed with ONE earlier this year, opening the doors to countless intriguing matchups.

A meeting with the Thai superstar would be top of the list, and he has successfully dabbled in kickboxing over the years, making it all the more exciting.
