The co-main event will be just as scintillating, as Tye Ruotolo looks to claim gold in the world’s largest martial arts organization when he battles promotional newcomer Magomend Abdulkadirov for the inaugural ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Championship. The lineup before those two battles has now been bolstered by a kickboxing affair and two exciting MMA brawls that will surely delight the global audience. Former ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title challenger Zhang Peimian is set to face Portuguese striker Rui Botelho in the heated division as he looks to make strides back into contention.
The Chinese star rode back-to-back wins into his contest for the vacant divisional crown against Jonathan Di Bella at ONE 162 in October 2022. He lost via a narrow decision but got back to the winner’s column at the expense of Russia’s Torepchi Dongak at ONE Fight Night 8 this past March. Meanwhile, Botelho has struggled to gain momentum in ONE so far, but he has pushed some of the best to the limit, including Panpayak Jitmuangnon, Taiki Naito, and Superlek Kiatmoo9. Fighting closer to his natural weight could unleash a different side of him that fans haven’t seen before.

The winner of this showdown may have a decent chance of challenging reigning king Di Bella next, so fans can bet it will be explosive. A heavyweight MMA battle will also go down at ONE Fight Night 16 when undefeated newcomer Ben Tynan takes on the dangerous star Kang Ji Won. Tynan carries a perfect 4-0 record into his promotional bow, with three wins coming by way of knockout and one via submission. ‘Vanilla Gorilla’ will be out to find success in the East when he steps into action next month. That won’t come easy, though, as ‘Mighty Warrior’ is as tough as they come. Sporting a 3-1 record in ONE, the South Korean powerhouse has consistently produced fireworks on the global stage.
Clashes across all divisions of ONE championship
ONE Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight MMA World Champion Anatoly Malykhin is hungry for his next fight, and he will be watching this one closely as he awaits a challenger. Last but not least, #4-ranked lightweight MMA contender Halil Amir hopes to take another step toward a World Title shot when he faces Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE Fight Night 16. The undefeated Turkish warrior shocked veteran Timofey Nastyukhin with a first-round knockout in his debut at ONE on Prime Video 2 in October 2022, and he proved it was no fluke by outclassing erstwhile undefeated Swiss star Maurice Abevi in his second outing at ONE Fight Night 9 this past April.

For his part, Mujtaba is eager to get back in the winner’s column after Sage Northcutt snapped his two-fight win streak at May’s ONE Fight Night 10. ‘Wolverine’ has shown his prowess both on the ground and on the feet, and he will present an interesting challenge for the well-rounded Amir. With reigning king Christian Lee yet to return to action, getting a good position in the lightweight MMA rankings will be essential for both fighters at ONE Fight Night 16.
