Eduard “Landslide” Folayang reached the pinnacle of his mixed martial arts career when he claimed the ONE Lightweight World Title from Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki in November 2016. The Team Lakay star’s skills seemed to have diminished recently, though, and he has also found himself on a worrying skid in the all-encompassing sport.

Knowing he needed to kick-start his ambition inside the Circle, Folayang accepted a Muay Thai fight against multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion John Wayne Parr at ONE X in March; and he scored a crucial victory against the Aussie legend.
Eduard Folayang announced that he is back in action
That win has reignited the fire inside him, and he will without a doubt hope to continue his winning ways when he returns to MMA to face Edson Marques at ONE on Prime Video 5: De Ridder vs. Malykhin on Friday, December 2.
“I missed competing in MMA, but I’m grateful for how I performed in Muay Thai the last time out. But now I’m back to doing what I’ve been doing, my bread and butter through these years,” he said.

The fight with Parr showed him that he still has the skills to get the job done; he plans to keep the fight where his strengths lie; next Friday evening.
“I’m really grateful that I faced John Wayne Parr the last time out before this fight. It was an all-striking battle, and it helped me a lot. I think it only further motivates me to do better and be more confident for this fight, should it stay on the feet,” the Filipino martial arts icon said.

“From that fight, my confidence grew a lot. That’s the time when I felt like my striking capabilities could be so much better, as I was able to hang with John Wayne Parr. The fact that I stood toe-to-toe with him, that means I’m world-class. That’s a huge confidence booster.”
