Liam Harrison with Goldberg—Is this the coolest walkout in MMA history or just another gimmick?

The recently concluded ONE 168: Denver event marked the return of Liam Harrison after a gap of two years. ‘Hitman’ suffered a horrendous injury during his last fight against Nong-O Hama and was forced to stay out of action. However, the 38-year-old returned to full fitness and took on Seksan Or Kwanmuang in a highly exciting clash.

Harrison surprised everyone when he walked out with WWE star Bill Goldberg. The pair have been training together lately, and Harrison took the time to show his appreciation for the wrestler. He took to his Instagram account to share a message for him and wrote, “Although didn’t get the result we wanted still getting to walk to the ring with my child hood hero in my last ever ONE championship fight was the coolest thing I have ever done. @goldberg95”. Let us take a closer look at what exactly happened in the fight between the two veterans of the sport.

British Muay Thai icon Liam Harrison gave his best during his catchweight (140 pounds) Muay Thai fight against Seksan or Kwanmuang. However, the 38-year-old fighter failed to register a win in what looked to be his last ONE Championship fight. Seksan looked in sublime form during the fight and maintained the pressure right from the beginning. Harrison did his best to try to match up to the speed of the Thai fighter but was clearly struggling. In an action-packed first round, both fighters respected each other’s power as they adopted a measured approach.

However, things took a massive turn in the fight at the beginning of the second round. Seksan connected a short right hand in the opening minutes of the second round and dropped Harrison. The 38-year-old fought his way back up before the ten count to keep the battle alive. Seksan seemed determined to win his fight and was relentless in his pressure and pushed for the finish. He would knock “Hitman” twice more to earn a TKO victory.

One of the most challenging things for any professional fighter is to announce their retirement from the sport. He said, “I don’t wanna be the guy who goes completely past his sell-by date and gets flattened by absolute wombles that wouldn’t even touch me or be near me in my prime, you know what I mean? So I don’t want to embarrass myself like that.” His career might not have ended the way he wanted, but the 38-year-old is one of the best to ever to grace the Muay Thai realm. The Leeds striker became a multi-time world champion in a career that lasted more than two decades with 44 out of 90 wins coming via knockout.
