The former UFC and Bellator fighter, Sonnen, has a massive following among North American fans. It is because he was one of the more notorious stars in the MMA scene while he was competing actively.

The former MMA world challenger has a great storytelling skill, that has built him a loyal fanbase of over a million on YouTube. Talking about ONE Championship, chiefly the former Muay Thai champion, Sonnen revealed, “I meet a guy named Jonathan Haggerty. Of all the people that I met… he made the biggest impression on me.”

‘The Bad Guy’ came to know that Haggerty competed twice against Demetrious Johnson‘s ONE X opponent, Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Thus, the former multi-division MMA title challenger, Chael Sonnen, added, “Rodtang is as good of a striker as you would come across. Jonathan had fought him not once, but twice. Now they went 1 – 1. Jonathan tells me this – I’m 1-1. They happen to be playing the fight of Jonathan vs. Rodtang. They’re playing and he’s telling me, ”yeah this is the one where I beat him’.”

After watching the fight, ‘The American Gangster was shocked. He said, “They raised Rodtang’s hand. Jonathan said, ‘yeah, they gave him the decision, but I won. As a matter of the fact, we rematched, So, the official scorebook is 0-2 Rodtang. But we are truly 1-1’. And he said that it’s even accepted amongst the community.

The Thai fighter found a third-round finish in the rematch. However, as the Oregan-native relayed, The General still has it 1-1. Thus, he would eye a rematch to settle the scores.

Sonnen found the situation similar to how a two-match kickboxing series between phenomenal strikers Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira played out. In that series also, Pereira won both fights – first by close decision and the second by knocking out ‘The Last Stylebender‘. However, according to the Kiwi kickboxer, he won the first bout, and it was a debatable decision.
