Former two-division world champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang and longtime foe Vitaly Bigdash have split their first two matches in ONE Championship.
At ONE: FULL CIRCLE on 25 February, the Burmese martial arts icon wants to win the rubber match against the Russian fighter to put their rivalry to bed. These two warriors will compete against each other for the third time in a middleweight clash scheduled for three rounds.
“I approached this as a brand-new fight. It’s not like we fought a few months ago. It’s been five years. But we did go ten rounds, so I know what his strong suit is,” the 36-year-old athlete offered.

“I know what his skill set is. But he’s still going to develop as a fighter, and I’m still going to develop as a fighter. You’re going to see a better version, a better trilogy match, than what you saw in the first two showings.”

The pair put in a thrilling display when they first met at ONE: QUEST FOR POWER in January 2017. Unfortunately for the Sanford MMA mainstay, he was unsuccessful in his quest to dethrone the then-ONE Middleweight World Champion Bigdash. Five months later, Aung La N Sang scored an emphatic win and captured the middleweight crown in front of his hometown fans at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

All has not been perfect for the global superstar in recent years, but he returned to the winners’ bracket recently thanks to a first-round knockout of Leandro “Wolf” Ataides at ONE: BATTLEGROUND in July last year.

The Florida-based former world titleholder reckons his most recent win is just the tip of the iceberg and promised fans that they can expect more when he clashes with the 37-year-old Akhmat Fight Team representative next Friday.
“It’s been a great camp. A little long, but we did all the homework,” he said. “We did everything right, so I’m excited to put on a show. My pain threshold is very high, and I’m just ready for war.”
