Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat is ready to impress in her first outing in the ONE Championship Circle this year.

The Indian wrestling sensation welcomes strawweight fighter Tiffany “No Chill” Teo to the atomweight ranks at ONE 161: Petchmorakot vs. Tawanchai on September 29, and she is hoping to get her 2022 campaign off to a positive note inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“My opponent is an experienced athlete. I am looking forward to this fight and want to make a good comeback,” the 28-year-old offered.

Phogat had a fulfilling 2021 in ONE, picking up three wins from five appearances, and her inclusion in the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship Final showed that she is a dangerous threat in the stacked division.

Ritu Phogat talked about injuries and rest after a submission loss

The Indian star dropped a submission loss to Stamp Fairtex on that occasion, and the hectic schedule of bouts meant that she had to spend the first half of this year recovering from a niggling shoulder injury that prevented her from performing.

But now that she feels in peak condition again, “The Indian Tigress” is ready to show fans that she still has that fire in her to compete at the highest level of competition.

“Every fight is important for me, but this is even more crucial because I suffered a loss in my last match, and then I got injured too,” Phogat said.

“I had suffered this injury on my right shoulder during my amateur wrestling days. Last year, I had to fight with a very little gap. The doctor asked me to take a rest, but it was not an option for me then. But after my last fight, I took some time off to rest and make a comeback.”

Phogat knows that Teo will be no pushover, however. The Singaporean star is a two-time ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title challenger and owns ten impressive wins on her slate.

But the Evolve MMA standout has worked on improving her all-around arsenal during her time off, which has filled her with confidence that she has what it takes to gain her eighth professional win in the all-encompassing sport.
