The 35-year-old meets the divisional king for the third time in the main event of ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver, Colorado, this Friday, May 5, looking to erase his shortcomings from their previous battle.

Adriano Moraes felt Demetrious Johnson will be at his best with an improved jiu-jitsu game

After becoming the first man to finish the 13-time flyweight MMA World Champion in April 2021, “Mikinho” was put out to sleep by a cracking flying knee in the rematch at ONE on Prime Video 1 in August last year.

While Moraes has put in the work to ensure he leaves the promotion’s on-ground debut show in 1stBank Centre with a massive second win over Johnson, he expects his foe to bring an evolved skillset on fight night.

The most dominant flyweight king in ONE Championship said, “I have seen that he has been evolving a lot in jiu-jitsu, leaving his comfort zone, with training away from home. I believe he will come into this fight in the best version possible, with more power too, because now he is the champion. I think he comes with a complete package in this fight.”

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, of course, is Moraes’ bread and butter that has helped him close out 10 of his 20 career wins by submission. Should Johnson come up with a far better jiu-jitsu game, Moraes understands that he might have his work cut out.

However, the Florida-based athlete has faith in his own tools too. After all, Mikinho” has been burning the midnight oil at American Top Team, and he firmly believes that his team of coaches there has established the right game plan for him to assemble a memorable victory at ONE Fight Night 10.

Katel Kubis at Muay Thai, Steve Mocco and Mike Brown at Wrestling, Pitu and Gabriel de Oliveira in Boxing, Marcos Parrumpinha and Rani Yahya at Jiu-Jitsu. (Rubens Charles) Cobrinha (five-time BJJ world champion) came here and helped. Besides that, Buchecha has helped me with my grappling as well.
