Chatri Sityodtong predicts a massive KO—do you think Haggerty or Superlek will deliver the knockout punch?

The highly anticipated ONE 168: Denver features two of the biggest names in Muay Thai. Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 will fight on September 6 in Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. ‘The General’ will defend his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against the flyweight kickboxing kingpin. Superlek will be moving up a weight class and is aiming to become a two-sport champion next.

Both fighters shared their mindset before such a massive clash, and it seems they mean business. ONE Championship recently took to their Instagram account to share what they are actually aiming for in the clash. Haggerty said,  “I have got that one shot, one kill. I want to stop this in round one.” Unfazed by the claims, Superlek quickly reminded him of his stature and said, “It’s been 20 years, and I have never been knocked out”. Predictions for the fights have started to flow in, and even ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong chimed in about the upcoming clash.

The electric main event between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Jonathan Haggerty has caught the attention of many out there. When two of the most electric fighters decide to test their skills against each other, it will indeed be a treat for the fans. Superlek will be walking into the fight high on confidence as he is unbeaten in his last ten clashes. Talking about the two-sport champion, Haggerty is also unbeaten in his last six fights and seems to be a man on a mission. Both fighters have been preparing diligently for the fight and are not willing to give away an inch to their opponent.

With so little to choose between the pair, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong has come up with his own prediction for the fight. He said, “I don’t know [who] wins, but I do know that this fight will likely end in a massive KO! This ONE is absolutely fireworks”. Chatri Sityodtong is not the only one who has failed to pick a favorite for the fight. Three-division champion Anatoly Malykhin, who is preparing for his clash at ONE 169: Atlanta against Oumar Kane, is also waiting patiently to witness the clash. However, the Russian powerhouse, despite having so much knowledge of the sport, failed to pick a particular favorite but he also believes a knockout will definitely be on the cards.

How will the fight between Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 end in Denver?

The build-up to the fight between the pair has been nothing short of exceptional. ‘The Kicking Machine’ is known for his excellent striking and speed, which makes him a menace to his opponents. Superlek has been unstoppable in his last ten fights and is in no mood to slow down. While he is moving up a weight class, the Thai superstar believes he will still have the speed and agility to cause problems for the champion. Haggerty, on the other hand, will be looking to avenge his previous loss when he fought Superlek in 2018.

Unfortunately, ‘The General’ suffered a cut above his eye, and the fight had to be stopped. Neither Haggerty nor Superlek was happy with the decision and were hoping for a rematch. Both the fighters have immense respect for each other, but on September 6, they are ready to go to war against each other. The two-sport champion, in a recent interview with ONE Championship, shared his opinion on the upcoming fight. He said, “I feel our styles are the same. We’re both aggressive. We both come for the knockout. I’d say we’re both up there as pound-for-pound bests. He’s the best in flyweight. I’m the best in bantamweight. So, why not put us together and see who is the best?”
