Demetrious Johnson is an absolute legend in mixed martial arts, but he is also a man of many talents.

A little over a week ago, the reigning ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion took home gold in the featherweight brown belt division at the 2023 IBJJF Masters Worlds in his first-ever jiu-jitsu competition.

Demetrious Johnson exerts confidence before Street Fighter 6 showdown with Kenny Omega

Now, he wants to put his competitive video game skills to the test by calling out AEW star Kenny Omega to a Street Fighter 6 duel. In his “Mightycast” podcast, Johnson guaranteed that he could best Omega, who is considered to be a master of the game. “Kenny Omega, people out there say you’re one of the greatest at Street Fighter 6, but I’m putting $100, hell, I’ll put $1,000 on it,” Johnson said on his podcast. “Street Fighter 6, me vs. you, I guarantee I beat you. We can do five matches — Street Fighter 6, not modern controllers, classic controllers. Well, you can do modern if you want. Bet you $1,000, your boy Mighty right here beats you in Street Fighter 6.”

When he’s not making human pretzels on the mats or knocking opponents out with flying knees in the cage, “Mighty Mouse” is an avid gamer who streams regularly on YouTube to thousands of viewers. Meanwhile, Omega is known for his love of gaming, which runs parallel to his professional wrestling career. The 39-year-old didn’t take kindly to Johnson’s Street Fighter 6 challenge and promptly fired back with a scathing post on X.

“Anyone’s free to insult my wrestling ability, but this cockamamie idea that you’re better at Street Fighter than me?! That makes it personal,” Omega said. “For charity, I’ll do it – Heck, I can even put you in touch with @AustinCreedWins. You guys can bond over being losers, etc.” Johnson, who successfully defended his flyweight belt against longtime rival Adriano Moraes last May in Colorado, isn’t scheduled to fight anytime soon, which leaves his schedule wide open for the remainder of the year.

The showdown between the two stars has a date

A resident of Washington state, “Mighty Mouse” could appear at the upcoming AEW Wrestle Dream event on October 1 in Seattle to settle his Street Fighter beef with Omega.
