

Bo Bassett is probably one of the top NCAA prospects in the NCAA as of now; after all, the possibilities of his next move after high school were all over the headlines. Being the top recruit for the class of 2026, the 18-year-old has chosen the University of Iowa’s wrestling program to make a legacy in. Studying in the Bishop McCort High School, he has been undefeated for the last 111 times he has stepped on the mat, and he does not take credit just for himself for this performance but his family as well.
“In wrestling, family support is my greatest strength,” are the words of the 2025 PIAA state wrestling champion. Bo’s father, Bill Bassett, was a key factor in ensuring that the athlete exited from the low-quality public school and went into a private one, which was McCorty, and he has also made sure of the same for his other children as well.

Bo Basset was born to Karissa and Bill Bassett in August 2006; three years later, on the 13th of February, mumma Bassett gave birth to Bo’s one and only sibling, Keegan Basset. The younger one has much respect and love for his elder brother, as the 16-year-old mentions him in his Instagram bio, “My brother- @bo.bassett“, it says. The respect comes mutually from Bo as well; he has even once called his little brother, “fire and the perfect lead-off guy.” Apart from Keegan, the Bassetts also have adopted Melvin Miller.

Keegan won the 41 kg Greco-Roman title at the U15 Pan American Team Trials in 2023, earning a spot on the U15 World Team, and then, in 2024, he won both the Greco-Roman and freestyle titles at the U15 Nationals. In 2017, the Bishop McCort wrestler secured the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling (PJW) State Championship at 87 lbs; he repeated this in 2018 and 2019 as well, except that he competed in the 97 lbs in the latter year. He also has two Super 32 Challenge wins to his name as well.

Miller has also won the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class 2A State Championship in the 152 lbs weight class during the 2023-2024 season; this was one of his best performances, where he had a record of 57-3. He repeated this success in the 160 lbs weight class in the 2024-2025 season, achieving a 49-1 record.

He also competed in the U17 freestyle World Championships after his performance in his best-of-3 U.S. Open championship series over Iowa’s Kyler Knaack at 71 kilograms in April. Miller, a 2024 PIAA Class 2A gold medalist with a 57-3 record, beat Knaack 8-2 and 10-0 in 3:19 for gold.
The three brothers together have the potential to become one of the best wrestling families in the world; after all, three of them are international athletes. Yes, the Bassett brothers are the first trio from one family to earn spots on Team USA after winning the U.S. Open in 2024.
