The anticipation surrounding Bishop McCort’s wrestling program is reaching fever pitch as 17-year-old sensation Bo Bassett and his team gear up for one of their biggest challenges yet. After suffering a crushing defeat in last year’s state final, Bassett and his squad have been relentlessly preparing for a shot at redemption. Stakes are high this year, as the final is around the corner.

According to FloWrestling, Bo Bassett has warned the rivals. What did the prodigy say, though? He said, “The excitement for the whole program and the whole area is very high.” But it’s not just Bo. The whole team is prepared to fight against their rivals, as they seek redemption. In fact, both the #1 Faith Christian Academy and #2 Bishop McCort teams are looking forward to the match.

Bassett further added, “I think getting them exposed to the Wyoming Sem match and the duals out in Oklahoma was very important. I know they’ve been looking forward to this since last year after we lost to them in the state final.” Bassett is talking about the Faith Christian’s defeat to #4 Wyoming Seminary in December 2024 by 32-24. However, this season, both squads have been almost invincible. But while Faith Heart cruised past opposition with title wins at Ironman, Beast of the East, and Escape the Rock, McCort wasn’t so lucky. Their winning ways were crushed at the hands of the Lions at the Ironman. The scores were not at all close, with a massive 213-177.5 victory.

McCort, however, bounced back with a 37-17 win over Wyoming Seminary. And it’s not just Bassett who is looking forward to their matchup with FCA. His father and head coach of Bishop McCort, Bill Bassett, also shared his feelings. In a phone interview, Bill Bassett said, “We’re going to try to create matches, and they are going to try to create the best matchups. It is weird that we don’t kind of overlap there. I think that’s part of the strategy and part of the fun.
