From the first time experiencing snowfall to making his indoor debut, Kishane Thompson has embraced several firsts this year. While he faced cultural shock in Astana, Kazakhstan Thompson ended up adding a new feather to his cap. Though he made his return in the 60M in 2025 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, another major event has also been won by him. The reason for his absence?
Kishane Thompson got injured after his great performance in the Paris Olympics in 2024. What was the injury? He suffered a hamstring injury during the Paris Olympics 2024 semi-finals, and he has withdrawn from the Silesia and Rome Diamond League meets. But now that he has recovered, he is all geared up and has even started showing his great performances.
He kicked off 2025 with Central Hurdles, Relays & Field Meet in Jamaica, and it was his debut in the 60m. Clocking time? Kishane Thompson made her personal best at 60 m with a 6.48 s clocking time. It seems Thompson won’t stop now. Why, you may ask?

Kishane Thompson plans to challenge reigning champion Noah Lyles at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, which will be his biggest event of the season. Thompson’s return on the field is bang on, but still, fans are not very happy about his 60 m heat in Astana.
“Very Close One,” fans are feeling that Kishane Thompson has to work hard
Reactions are on the rise as Kishane Thompson is back in the game and just took a slight lead in the 60m heat. The Jamaican star clocked 6.58 seconds to the finish to pin-point Demek Kemp, but not without raising eyebrows. Fans were quick to point out his shaky start, calling it “a very close one; almost lost the race.”
Thompson edged out the number two with a lesser margin; Demek Kemp, who made it to the second position, clocked out in 6.65s. The margin is just 0.07 seconds. This small gap highlights how close the race was and validates the sentiment that Thompson almost lost.
Another fan commented, “Well, that was a bit of a fizzer; it could have done much better.” Though his performance was victorious, it was far from his personal best. He has clocked in 60 m with 6.48 s, and fans expect him to dominate the heat. He didn’t start well enough and made up in the last seconds, and another comment reads the same sentiment: “He had a poor start; he almost lost it if he didn’t recover like he managed to do so.”

One track and field fan mocked Thompson in the name of Noah. It says, “Almost lost the race, and some people have the gall to say he can beat Noah!” Due to his rough start, he is getting the mock. Noah Lyles has already defeated Kishane Thompson in the 2024 Olympics in the men’s 100m final by 0.005 seconds. Thompson said once that he wants to improve and wants to compete with Noah again. In the same way, another user also had similar thoughts.
Another user wrote, “Man, Kishane needs to put in the work. If this is how he looks, the season could be a rough one.” Though Thompson won the 60 m heat, his performance was not the best, as it was supposed to be. Because in the beginning, it was not up to the mark, and towards the end, he took up the pace. It is to be seen how his future unfolds, and will he be able to meet fans’ expectations?
