What was the point of racing if he didn’t attack the world record?” These are words that have been thrown at Jakob Ingebrigsten by his fans. But are they wrong? After all, it’s not even been half a month since he ran in the World Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Lievin, France, on February 13th. There, he even broke not one but two world records, clocking 3:45.14 in the mile and surpassing his own world 1500m record on the way with 3:29.63. Yet it feels like he just ain’t ready to stop. While most run to win, he runs to break records. And that’s what he did once again.

The European Athletics Indoor Championships are underway in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, from the 6th of March.  On the very second day of the meet, Ingebrigtsen marked his place in the 1500m event and, to no surprise, won, clocking a 7min 48.37sec; this was his 17th European title across all surfaces and championships, but he wasn’t done yet.

He also defended his European indoor 3,000m title. Yup, the four-time Diamond League final winner walked out of the European indoors with 2 golds. FloTrack took to Twitter to announce the second gold, writing, “Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins ANOTHER gold medal with a 7:48.37 3000m. 🥇🥇.George Mills earned silver with 7:49.41, and Azeddine Habz earned bronze in 7:50.48. #Eurolndoors.

\The post also featured a moment from the race, where the Norwegian runner could be seen in the very front of the race with his hand in the air, looking at the camera with a very confident look on his face as the likes of GB’s Mills and Almgren from Sweden could be very celary seen pushing themselves past the limit. Pure Jakob Ingebrigtsen dominance !!!

The 24-year-old track and field athlete with his first gold on the 7th matched the record of seven European indoor gold medals won by a male athlete. Soviet-Ukrainian Valeriy Borzov previously held that record, winning 50m and 60m titles in the 1970s when the event was held annually. Fans are going crazy, completely shocked by the performance of the 2 time world champion.

Is Jakob Ingebrigtsen redefining what it means to be a track legend, or is he just getting started?

Fans React to Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s European Double

It’s not every day that you see a man break not one but two world records in France about half a month ago and then see him completely dominate the European Indoors claiming, yet again, not one but two golds!!! That is just some inhuman stuff. One fan showed his disbelief at Jakob’s performance, saying, “Man is an absolute beast; he just can’t stop winning.” This again completely sums it up.

This other person’s perspective that, “At this point other people dont even need to run against this man just to lose” is not wrong either, cause every race the Norwegian runner is participating in, he only intends to do one thing, break the world record, get the gold, gotta agree with this other X user who said, “Utter dominance!

Crazy stuff from Jakob. The final split has out of the world.” Two days, two golds; crazy stuff indeed. The final split refers to when the world champion suddenly went nitro in the last few laps of the race, keeping the number one spot for two and a half laps before he crossed the finish line, one wagging finger raised.

The domination makes you wonder what’s next for the athlete and also makes you agree with this fan who says, “From the looks of it, Jakob is well bound to break his WR again this year.” But what record? He’s got so many!  Most probably, it is the one he set up in February as steps on the track in the World Athletics Indoor Championship that is to be held in Nanjing from March 23 to 25.
