In what was a somber turn of events, her struggles started as early as the tender age of 11.

Opening up about her hurdles, she narrated that moving to Calabasas, California, she became the center point of jokes due to her complexion. Next up, the Olympic gold medalist also faced significant discrimination during her college days. However, despite all the challenges she faced, one person stood like a rock beside her. It was none other than her mother, Rayshon Davis Ayers. She supported her through thick and thin and made all the sacrifices possible. In fact, she also did not hesitate to put her house on mortgage!
Surely, while it was a heavy price to pay for the welfare of Tara Davis-Woodhall and her career, Tara too, never forgot the moment. That’s why, after all these years, as she got her biggest-ever tax refund recently, the Olympic gold medalist made sure to pay a heartfelt thanks to her mother. She used the money from her tax refund to pay off the entire mortgage of her childhood home! Now, that’s some way to repay your parents’ debt. In a video posted on her Instagram, the 25-year-old athlete shared her thoughts in the caption. She wrote, “What would you do with your biggest tax refund yet? For me, it was about giving back. My mom has always been my biggest supporter. I’m lucky I was able to help her pay off the mortgage on my childhood home and now her forever home.”

In the video, the Olympian could be seen sharing a moment with her mother, who looked expectedly elated. Giving her a warm hug, Davis-Woodhall added a note referring to her mother as the one who gave her the world and was responsible for everything she had today. The 25-year-old noted, “To the woman who gave me everything. Who supported all of my dreams. Now she’ll be able to live her dream, living in the house we grew up in, mortgage-free.”

And this was not all. Just like always, Tara Davis-Woodhall’s husband, Hunter Woodhall too, did not shy away from sharing her wife’s accomplishments. The Paralympic gold medalist was quick to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the long jumper’s mother. Hunter opined that she thoroughly deserved every bit of what her daughter had done for her today. Resharing the video on his Instagram, Hunter Woodhall stated, “Tara paid off her mom’s house. She deserves it so much, always supporting Tara. Sacrificing so much to be an incredible mom. Thanks to all the moms.” Meanwhile, speaking about her parents supporting her, their love and affection were visible in full flow at the Paris Olympics.

We’ve been on a tour this morning, and now we’re ready for some Olympics,” Rayshon said before the final. Ty, knowing how much Tara feeds off the energy of the crowd, eagerly anticipated the moment she would take center stage. The proud dad remarked, “I’m waiting to see what she can do with that energy.”

Rayshon emphasized the importance of simply being there for her daughter. “For me, it’s just supporting her, being there for her, listening to her,” she explained. The mother further narrated, “Sometimes she doesn’t want to hear talk-back, she just wants to vent, and that’s what we do.” Ty, reflecting on Davis-Woodhall’s evolution since the Tokyo Olympics, noted her maturity and dedication. “Honing in, she had great work ethic, but now it became a professional work ethic where she’s holding herself accountable,” he said.
Their pride in their daughter goes way beyond her Olympic triumph. Davis-Woodhall’s father stated, “I’m very proud of Tara. I was before she made the Olympics, though. She’s worked so hard just to be here every day as a person, not just as an athlete,” With gold around her neck, the success was a family victory.
