Quincy Wilson had emerged like a cheetah going full speed on the prowl. Breaking records and qualifying for the Olympics at 16 years old is a dream for many. But Wilson did not just live them. Adding further intrigue to his already incredible story, the student from Bullis school also clinched the Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024! Now, this made him an overnight star for the track and field fans. However, amidst all the rosy glory, there was one important message that Wilson might have failed to fathom. “With great power comes great responsibility.” And Wilson was responsible for carrying on with his impeccable runs in the future to meet his fans’ expectations. Cut to 2025, all the bubbles around him are about to blast. After a sorry start to the season, Wilson is being called out yet again!

A recent video of Wilson competing in a relay race was posted by CITIUS MAG. The same clip was reposted by Track Spice criticizing how Wilson was running at the 4×400 meter relay at NB High School Championships. After taking the baton, Wilson went full throttle. However, his form did not look conventional. While there was no problem with his acceleration, one of Wilson’s arms looked more pointed towards the ground. This is in contrast to the fact that most of the world-class athletes have a much upright form with their arms swinging more parallel to their bodies.

Surely, Wilson has been running like this for years. But fans suddenly got interested only now due to Wilson’s poor showing. After faltering in two of his initial races this year, hopes were pretty high for him at the NB High School Championships and he delivered. The teenage track sensation propelled his team to victory at 3:09.44. Yet, critics won’t let the 17-year-old relax it seems!

Lashing out at the Olympic gold medalist, track fans swarmed in with their stern words. Here’s what they had to say.

Fans share their two cents on Quincy Wilson’s poor form

As soon as the video went viral, the fans flocked to the comment section to add their input. As the track enthusiast claimed that Wilson needs to work on his form, one netizen shared their personal opinion on the matter. They shared how they feel that with the current form of Quincy, the young sprinter is already performing with finesse and is securing impeccable wins. However, they also added another perspective. The commenter felt maybe his scores would go up even further if he managed to fix his form. “Crazy his times are that good with his form looking like that lol”, read the comment from the fan. Echoing the same another added, “once he fix this form he will be lighting fast. That’s crazy he run them times already” But there were plenty of other opinions on the issue, a mix of good and bad.

Another fan however had a different take, adding that Wilson got the gold medal in the Olympics and thus his form might be perfectly right. Contradicting the same another X user added, “He got lucky with that gold running the lap he did.” But they also added that they feel there’s no end to learning and improvements. “He will be amazing in the future. And yes, he needs coaching. You never stop improving”, said the fan. On the other hand, another netizen believes that the Virginia native should be allowed to perform in his style.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Quincy Wilson's unconventional form his secret weapon, or a hurdle he must overcome?

Have an interesting take?

There is quite a lot of force in that argument. Wilson’s form has already set him on the path to greatness; it has got him an Olympic medal and enabled him to break the 400m record, and now adding to the list are his exploits in the New Balance High School Championships. Maybe it is in fact his winning form, “Don’t touch that young man’s form. He’s just fine the way he is.”, wrote the social media user.

Another fan top echoed the same emotion. They added that if the unique form of Quincy is not posing a barrier it must not be suddenly altered. They even cited the reason behind the same. The track enthusiast stated that often forcefully changing one’s form affects one’s speed and strength as we all are differently built. “If it ain’t broke, DONT fix it….. Not everyone is gonna have the same form. Everyone runs differently”, said the fan.

Maybe his form is what enabled him to such track and field glory at such a young age. Maybe his form is what sets him apart!
