Quincy Wilson met with NBA legend LeBron James himself, which blew his mind. Having always seen LeBron as his hero, meeting him felt like something out of a dream. Interacting with an icon has driven him to push further on his own journey.

Joe Lee, who coaches Quincy Wilson, highlighted the vast talent and potential of Wilson by instigating a bold comparison. “I hate to put these comparisons out there because I don’t want to put pressure on him,” Lee admitted, “but it’s like seeing LeBron James very early.” This comparison showcases Wilson’s enormous talent but also hints at his vast potential. Like how LeBron was pegged early for his game-changing skills, Wilson’s path indicates he’s about to shake up track and field in a big way.

In a chat with FloTrack at a recent press conference, Quincy Wilson shared how the Olympic experience shaped him. When asked about his stay in the athlete village and who stood out, Wilson responded, “I stayed in Olympic Village, yes I did. And my favorite person I got to see is LeBron James. LeBron James—everybody’s idol. I just think he’s the GOAT, and for track, everybody. I’m just so thankful that I was able to get the moment and meet somebody I’d never met before. It was a great experience, basically seeing people from different countries… coming together to compete for one thing we’ve been training for four years.”

For Quincy Wilson, meeting LeBron wasn’t just a personal highlight; it was a big reminder of the mark he wants to leave in track and field.

Quincy Wilson reflects on resilience after loss in 2025 opener

Quincy Wilson’s first race of 2025 didn’t quite go as planned, with an unexpected second-place finish in the 500m at the Virginia Showcase. But rather than letting it drag him, this young athlete kept his cool. It was an opportunity to grow and keep chasing his larger dreams. He took the race as a sign that even slip-ups can set the stage for a strong return. For Wilson, every move, win or lose, is just a piece of the puzzle to something greater.

After the race, Wilson’s headspace really showed how confident he is and how well he gets what it takes to compete at the highest level. “Right now, I’m the top dog, and they’re going to try to take down the top dog. Who wouldn’t want to? You wouldn’t be in this sport if you didn’t. People think you can just chill, but when you’re at the top, it’s hard,” he shared. Moreover, his talk doesn’t just show confidence; it shows he knows there’s a bullseye on him as a top dog in track.

From meeting his idol to tackling setbacks, Quincy Wilson’s journey reflects a rising star balancing inspiration and resilience. Can Quincy Wilson’s commitment and strength make him the next big thing in track and field?
