Tara Davis-Woodhall had a dream marriage with Paralympian Hunter Woodhall. But their lives recently have been anything but romantic. During a visit to his father, Hunter discovered that he needed surgery in order to get out of an emergency situation. Surely, when something like this happens, a wife would want to be next to her husband, right? But for Tara, this turned out to be quite the hard road.
Taking to her Instagram account, the 2024 Summer Olympics gold medalist uploaded a story on 5th March 2025. In the video, one could see the long jump champion with a very worried look on her face, saying, “So when I found out that Hunter had to get his appendix removed, I instantly booked a flight and so I booked my flight for today at 7 a.m., and I was supposed to get here around like 8:55 a.m.”
Cool, she’s going to go meet her husband now, right? Nope, cause well weather, Woodhall continued, “Dude, Kansas got the craziest blizzard overnight and this morning I had to wake up at 3 a.m to get to the Kansas City airport and dude, my flight got delayed three and a half freaking hours but do not fret. Two minus, however, many hours.”

An hour later, she came up with another update of how things went worse; posting a picture of the planes parked on a snowy runway, she wrote, “Said storm. The city didn’t send plows to the airport so we had to wait for them to come.” When you need luck, you don’t have it, do you? The American decided to ditch the idea of flying altogether and took a 2.5-hour drive to the love of her life.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the Texas native posted another couple of stories, where one was the photo of her husband, Hunter, and her telling that she saved him a strip of chicken she had on her way because she knew he’d want it. Oh, talk of love!!!. The second one was also a picture of Hunter but with Tara in it and she wrote, “Thankful he’s okay❤️❤️”

What saved the better half of Tara Davis-Woodhall? A Ring !!!
It all started when the Paralympic champion had a salad with what he says, “some blue cheese” on it. Hunter, who developed a weird intolerance to different kinds of lactose after having Covid-19, started to have stomach cramps; this was something new; the worst cramp the Paralympian has ever had. The 26-year-old decided to withstand the pain until the ring came to play.
To break it, it wasn’t just a ring but the Oura Ring 4. It is a smart ring that is made to monitor the health updates minutely. It then sends the data to users. In an Instagram video posted by Hunter after the surgery, he said, “I think this ring might have saved my life yesterday.” The ring sent signals to the stubborn athlete, such as increased heart rate, added body temperature, and heart rate variability (HRV).
All this, when considered with the pain in the right abdomen, was a clear sign of appendicitis or burst appendix. After the nudge from his mother, Hunter was at the hospital. Here it was revealed in the CT scan that he had appendix issues and surgery was needed. Reflecting on the situation, he said, “I’m so stubborn that I think without what this ring was telling me, that there were major signs something was wrong. I don’t know if I would have gone to the hospital.”

Hunter is doing well now, as evidenced by the updates on Instagram, where all his updates have been coming. “Just made it out of surgery, feeling pretty good. So everything went well. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Well, I’m straight. I didn’t need that appendix s—- anyways,” he told.
Hunter’s father is also in good shape and slowly recovering. And now, since both have their wives to their side, they are going to get well pretty soon. Tara Davis-Woodhall can now finally relax.
