Just 3 words! Tyreek could never.’ That’s all it took for Noah Lyles to reignite the fury once again. After all that back and forth in 2024, the 100m Olympic champion dragged his beef with the Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill in 2025, starting at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Only this time, the Florida native intends to finish it for good. Yes, the latest news on the block is that the sprint showdown is on! But, before that, the two had a little war of words (as usual), where Noah Lyles seriously clapped back at the NFL-er!

The world’s fastest man had to have the last word when the sprint battle’s distance was in question, right? After all, all through 2024, this was what the main fuss was about—how much would be the distance Lyles and Tyreek would run for? Also, will it be in yards or meters? While Hill was once adamant about putting a 50-yard battle on paper, Lyles was firm: if you want to challenge the world’s fastest man, ‘you have to challenge that in his event.’ The dynamics and distances kept changing, but they had failed to reach a conclusion. Well, now it looks like that isn’t over yet! And the distance continues to be a point of contention in their 2025 trash talk as well!

As the two, Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill, spoke to PEOPLE exclusively today, Hill claimed that Lyles refused a 40m sprint with him previously because “He [Noah] already knew he was gonna lose that off the jump.” But Noah Lyles isn’t going soft on his words like always. The sprinter clapped back at Hill’s claims, saying, “I did that not to embarrass you.” Wait, he wasn’t done yet. “I mean if it was 100-meters, it’d be a blowout, you know, we gotta meet in the middle.” Noah Lyles boldly claimed that it was only to have a fair competition with Hill that he turned down the 40m proposition.

And what gives Lyles the confidence this time around? Well, we know he has never been someone to hold back. Unfiltered as ever! However, this time, he comes bearing a definite answer. Noah Lyles says that if one looks at the common patterns, track athletes are the ones ‘scared to take punches or jabs’ when it comes to a competition. However, there’s one thing that boosts him: “But if you gonna talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk.” And that’s what he’s doing this time around.

But all that aside, the distance saga continues, right? In 2024, Noah Lyles said he understood Hill’s intentions about the distance a little too well. “I know why he [Hill] wants to do 50 yards cuz even if he loses, it’ll be close, but 200 meters, that there’s no interest in that, but you have everything to lose,” remarked Lyles on the Dan Patrick show in 2024. However, the 100m Paris Olympics champion had not shut down the door completely. He’d said, “There mighy be leeway for adjustments but if you think we’re running anything that has ‘yards’ in it and you’re sorely mistaken.”

Yet, nothing good came out of it. Hill and Lyles still had not managed to agree on a distance. But as this beef rises again in 2025, it looks like Noah Lyles is here for serious business. He was so last time also, right? In 2024? Of course. Lyles had said, “I’m not here to do gimmicks.” So if Tyreek wanted to race someone who worked his whole life to win the title of the world’s fastest man, he had to be serious. Lyles also claimed at the start that Tyreek was just probably chasing clout by calling him on for a battle.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Tyreek Hill really challenge Noah Lyles, or is this just a publicity stunt?

Have an interesting take?

But the dynamics have changed. It’s now Tyreek Hill who is taking the mic and setting the ground rules for their 2025 clash. Here’s what he just announced!

Not Noah Lyles, Tyreek Hill has the last word this time

The conditions have clearly shifted. And Tyreek Hill seems to be the driver behind that change. Speaking to PEOPLE exclusively, the NFL star has just laid down the ground rules for his battle with Noah Lyles, and it’s nothing like we ever expected. After all the poking and spicy jabs at each other in 2024, it looks like one of them is drawing the ultimate boundary. And that’s none other than Tyreek Hill.

Hill recently stated, “I mean, as long as we ain’t putting people’s mamas in it, I don’t care.” “We can go as far as far can be. We’re here for a good time,” he said. That’s it. He’s marking the boundary, and it looks like this condition is non-negotiable for him. This also is a warning sign, which means that Hill and Lyles can go to any extent so long as they are not toeing this line. So how serious do you think this beef is going to get?
