Quincy Wilson has been enjoying the cream of the crop in recent times. The Bullis School sensation has worked hard to make his mark in the track and field realm. Taking down one record after the other, Wilson soon garnered the limelight of the elite lot. At just 17, he has successfully taken down the u18 400m record not once but thrice, and let’s not forget the record he broke was set by Darrell Robinson and had stood untouched since 1982! And that’s not all, displaying his scintillating form on the track, Wilson qualified for the Paris Olympics– the youngest male athlete to do so from the United States! Apart from the obvious accolades, Wilson also had his moments outside of the tracks that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

There’s the Samsung Z flip special edition that was handed to all the participants in Paris 2024. Wilson explored the new tech to his heart’s content and also gave his goodies to his sister and his friends. However, while all of these were significantly good memories, there was one moment that Wilson will never forget in his lifetime. In a recent episode of Beyond The Records podcast, Wilson was asked to shed light upon the one Olympic moment that made his Paris outing special. However, there was one condition- he cannot name his gold medal-winning moment.

Recalling his magic moment, Wilson stated that it was during the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Sharing the same boat with the legendary NBA superstar, LeBron James, Wilson felt thrilled to the core. However, he soon went on to express concerns for James stating that this moment might not come back ever again. After all, King James is already 40 years old at the moment. By the time the LA28 approaches, the NBA legend will be 44. “It was— it— it was— yeah, that was really cool. Like, that probably won’t- no, I’m not going to say it won’t happen again, but it may not be there with Bron again. That’d be 44,” said Wilson.

This prompted a reaction from Rai Benjamin, saying that he might be able to recreate the moment with either Bronny or Bryce James. However, at this point, Grant Holloway came up with a response that put Wilson in a tough spot. Holloway chimed in laughingly, “He wanted to say Bronny ain’t gonna be-“ Understanding the hidden meaning, Wilson was quick to fill in, “I- I did not say that. I did not say that.” Surely, this was a lighthearted banter between Wilson and others. However, shrugging off the jokes, things got serious quickly. Reflecting on his recent losses, Quincy Wilson broke his silence on the same.

Quincy Wilson breaks silence on recent loss

Coming off his Olympic heroics, the Virginia native was expected to continue his form in the 2025 season. However, things look somber after the first two races of the year. First up, competing at the Virginia Showcase, Wilson lost the race to fellow 17-year-old, Andrew Salvodon, who crossed the finish line at a mind-boggling 1:00.49! Next, he competed at the Millrose games, and there too, the result was not satisfactory. Despite clocking a time of 1:16.20, Wilson took the fourth position as Will Sumner pulled off a stunner to clock 1:14.04. Disheartening as the losses may be, the track sensation isn’t quite done. Not yet!
