Julien Alfred is a name that needs no introduction anymore. Her name is already etched in Saint Lucia’s history after a stellar 2024, Olympic gold, domination in the World Athletics Indoor Championships, nomination for World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year 2024, and whatnot. But Alfred’s hunger remains unquenched. While most would relish such milestones, Alfred is eyeing more such domination on the track, and as she officially steps in 2025, she is eyeing new records.

Julien Alfred’s speed isn’t just turning heads; she also sparks debates. Even Noah Lyles once claimed she was better than Sha’Carri Richardson, though he later walked it back. But the message was clear—Alfred is a force to be reckoned with. As she chases new heights, the world is starting to realize she’s not just fast—she’s in a league of her own. What’s coming now?

One track and field fan posted on X about the Saint Lucian native’s upcoming race. The caption reads, “100m Olympic Champion Julien Alfred 🇱🇨 is set to headline the 4th edition of the Miramar Invitational on April 5th, as confirmed by meet organizers. The Ansin Sports Complex is known for its fast track ⚡️.”

The Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida, will host the Miramar Invitational 2025, a track and field competition that is a Silver event on the World Athletics Continental Tour. And the stakes are high for Alfred, as she is participating in this meet for the first time ever. Though Miramar is a big event, this would be like a warm-up for future history-making accolades. And if we are to go by her recent performance at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, Massachusetts, we can hope for big results as the runner posted a national record in the 300 m with a time of 36.16 seconds.

Moving on, talking about her dreams, she once said, “Visiting the Scandinavian countries is one of my dreams. I look forward to feeling the hospitality from the Scandinavian spectators and hope to live up to the standard of these two meetings and to give them a memorable performance,” as she is rooting for major competitions such as the Diamond Leagues races in Norway and Sweden this season. But what exactly is a 23-year-old track star up to?

Julien Alfred’s relentless pursuit beyond Olympic gold

Winning Saint Lucia’s first-ever Olympic gold was historic, but for Julien Alfred, it was never the final destination. Alfred now sees an even bigger challenge ahead—proving she belongs among the sport’s all-time greats.

However, her rise wasn’t overnight. From humble beginnings to dominating the global stage, Alfred’s journey has been built on sheer grit and relentless work ethic. She has shattered expectations at every step, but for her, past victories mean nothing if she stops pushing forward. “I think I have a lot to work on, get stronger in my course straight for my core. I think that getting stronger mentally as well as physically is really what I have to work on,” she stated after losing the World Athletics Athlete of the Year honor, emphasizing that no accolade will ever dull her hunger.

With the Miramar Invitational on the horizon, Alfred is set to open her outdoor season with a statement. But that’s just the beginning. Her sights are locked on the 2025 World Championships, where she aims to cement her dominance against the best in the world, starting with the 2025 Wanda Diamond League in Xiamen on April 26. But it’s just the beginning. Later on June 12, she will be competing at the Bislett Games in Oslo, followed by the BAUHAUS Galan on June 15 in Stockholm. But the World Championships in Tokyo is something she has been eyeing for a long time. The road ahead is long, but if there’s one thing she has proven, it’s that she thrives under pressure.

For Alfred, success isn’t just about medals—it’s about legacy. As Saint Lucia celebrates its golden girl, she refuses to slow down. Every race is another step toward rewriting history, and with her determination, the best is yet to come. Only time will tell how Julien Alfred is going to perform in the Miramar Invitational but surely she will be on fire this season.
