‘Icon’: Noah Lyles was described by that adjective in a clip released on January 18 this year. The clip caught him in several frames, in a Zen-like mode, preparing for the upcoming track battle. However, the clip was to announce Noah’s entry in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in a celebratory way. Surely, his charismatic presence in the frames increased the gripping factor of the clip. But no one would argue about the contribution that the voiceover added to the video. It was none other than his fiancée, Junelle Bromfield.
In the clip, Junelle explained her fiancée as “a force unmatched” on the track. Also, she was kind of perfect in every bit, bringing in the key part to showcase Noah Lyles’s preparation to come back in the new season. But what about her return to the track? Did she share anything on the clip or upload her comeback clip on social media? Umm, sadly, no! In fact, after August 7, 2024, Junelle Bromfield has yet to be seen in any competitive track.
In the last six months, the Jamaican Olympian has shown up in several track videos shared by Noah Lyles. In those videos, Bromfield can be seen practicing with other athletes on the track in Adidas’ training facility in Florida. Even so, after her Paris Olympics heartbreak, she is still letting go of the key contests. There was no update on her 27th birthday (February 8) either.

So is she thinking about retiring from the track? Anything concrete has yet to come from Junelle’s side. However, the track and field sports raconteurs have alleged that relentlessly. Such as the consistent posts from the X-handle, Track Spice. The first one from this lot came on February 2 this year. The post’s caption read, “The word on the street is that Junelle Bromfield is retiring from Track!” Subsequently, the fans started to share their takes on the topic. Surprisingly, almost everyone voted for the truth factor of the post. However, that was just the starter! The next post on the topic from Track Spice came on Junelle’s birthday.

The post shared on February 8 had a similar tone. This time, the caption read, “Happy birthday Junelle Bromfield. Enjoy retirement!” The post undoubtedly refueled the debate. The fans found it hard to believe the subject of the post. But do they have anything to take any side? Notably, the 27-year-old athlete is yet to react to such posts.
Moreover, Noah’s fiancée has already missed out on a contest that she entered last year: the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix! The available data claims that Junelle Bromfield started her 2024 season, competing in the women’s 400m event in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. In 2023, her season started late in April with Tom Jones Memorial, though. But in 2022, the Olympic medalist entered her season opener in the first week of February, the Puma Fuller-Anderson Development Meet. In 2021, it was earlier than that, in the last week of January, by competing in the Dual Meet—Sprintec vs. MVP. But coming to 2025, nothing has come yet! So is she really retiring? It is still speculation! Nonetheless, she has potent reasons to take such a step.
Noah Lyles’s fiancée has reasons to take a call
With the “Easy money” away from the track, the lack of support from the home crowd, and shifting base to a different country, Junelle Bromfield has all the potential reasons not to continue her track career. The first one in the discussion is the “Easy money.” How so?
Last year, in November, a fan posted on X, “Junelle’s entire role in the #Sprintnetflix series is to prop Noah up and act like his cheerleader. Nothing about her talent or her quest to the Olympic faces.” It was regarding Junelle’s less presence in the docuseries as an athlete. However, Sprint’s topic had been to focus on the key athletes competing in the Paris Olympics, and Bromfield was in the French capital defending her Olympic relay medal. But here’s the surprise: the less presence of her athletic self in the scenes didn’t irk her. Rather, she supported it with her words, “And she is getting paid to do it. Must be exhausting.” Noah Lyles also stood beside by penning, “Easy Money.” Does it signify Bromfield’s high earnings away from the tracks? You can use your guesses.

Another is Junelle’s shift to the USA with Noah. She had to do it probably after all the backlash from her home crowd drove her away from the island nation. It all began with Noah Lyles’ remarks during a casual interview with Track World News. “Junelle being Jamaican and having trained in MVP, I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camp for at least five years now,” he said. The sprinter intended no harm with his words. However, numerous fans reacted negatively to this revelation. This sparked a flood of comments labeling the Jamaican sprinter as a “backstabber” and a “traitor.”

Well, Junelle didn’t ask for “forgiveness.” Instead, after the Paris Olympics, she left her country and settled with Noah. In October they engaged with each other and in November, the couple shifted to a new address in the USA. Meanwhile, the 400m specialist teased the discussion of her settling in the USA with the post, “We are blessed with a house but together we will build a Home 🙏🏿❤️.” Since then, Junelle has yet to return to Jamaica. Now, what could she do more, except announce her retirement or debunk the discussion? Nothing, right? It has come down to those two points only.
