14 first finishes and a one-second finish out of 18 events! Gabby Thomas‘s 2024 track season was a dizzying ride of triumphs and triumphs with a close call and very few misses. Needless to say, it further solidified her status as one of the world’s top sprinters. Of those 14 first finishes, three belong to Paris. The 28-year-old American masterfully dominated the Paris Olympics, claiming gold medals in the 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay. Not just that, she also assisted Team USA in setting an American record in the 4x400m relay by clocking a finish time of 3:15.27. If you think this was all that the 2024 200m Diamond League champion achieved, then you are all wrong! She became the first U.S. woman to take the gold in all three events after Allyson Felix did it in 2012. With such an impressive 2024 under her belt, fans are eagerly waiting for her to start the 2025 season! And we have news!

Thomas replied to this question on March 23, 2025, with an Instagram post, revealing her 2025 track and field racing schedule along with a tough photo of herself in mid-stride. Her eight-word message—”See you guys on the track very soon 🫶🏽“—sparked fans with excitement. Her competition schedule binds her to start with Texas Relays in Austin on March 29. Then she will compete in four major meets of GST prior to the World Championships (September 13-21): Kingston, Jamaica, 4-6 April; Miami, 2-4 May; Philadelphia, 30 May-1 June; and Los Angeles, 27-29 June.

This will be her foray into Grand Slam Track, a new bold league created by Michael Johnson, where she’ll compete against the world’s quickest as a ‘unicorn’ racer. Grand Slam Track’s design—four big-money meets with 96 competitors divided into Racers and Challengers—must have appealed to Thomas’s competition appetite and higher paychecks. Having criticized the Diamond League’s restrictive prize system, she’s embracing one with a $100,000 top prize and $10,000 for eighth, a possible $400,000 payday if she sweeps all four events.

This year’s competition, beginning March 29, may see her sharpen her pace before Kingston in Texas Relays. Where she clinched gold in 100 m, 200 m, and 4×100 m by clocking 10.88, 22.08, and 42.25 m (his part of the relay) respectively. Afterward, she’s scheduled to race at the USA Championships in July-August, probably in Eugene, Oregon, to retain her 200m crown (21.60 in 2023). Following her Grand Slam Track campaign, Thomas is also set to return to New York City for Athlos NYC in October. A women’s only meet where she finished second in the 200m last year to Brittany Brown. Funded by Alexis Ohanian, Athlos has a $60,000 prize purse per event (2024), and Thomas would be hoping to take the top spot this time.

Her Jamaican entrance brings heat, pitting her 200m talent (personal best 21.60) and versatility (400m best 49.68, 100m best 11.00) against local icons. Would she combine sprints or remain true to her go-to 200m? Whatever her decision, her Instagram hint is a starter’s pistol for a season of face-offs. With Kingston mere weeks away, Thomas is ready to take her 2024 momentum into new terrain, especially the Grand Slam Track coming up, which she has been rooting for since the very beginning.
