Talking? That’s outdated! It’s now time to actually show up on the track and put the big debate to rest: who can go faster— Noah Lyles or Tyreek Hill? Fans have waited long for this to happen. But before things get all too serious, a little internet banter should do no harm, right? Well, it’s certainly doing one thing, and that’s building hype for the event, as fans continue to pick sides after witnessing Lyles and Hill knock horns on the internet. Curious to know what exactly happened?
Well, both Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill spoke exclusively to PEOPLE recently, where they addressed nearly everything about the beef to a tee. From jibes, disses, playful banter, and serious warnings, the interview was a complete BTS in the Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill battle. But that’s not the only platform where they’re voicing their thoughts. Did we forget X? Both Lyles and Hill are active users of this social media domain and that came to the forefront recently when they had a banter of sorts. Here’s the full rundown!
On February 13, Noah Lyles added an X post, with the link to the interview titled, “NFL Star Tyreek Hill and Olympian Noah Lyles’ Race is Officially On,” that he had with PEOPLE, exclusively. Wondering what’s fiery about this? Well, wait till you hear what Lyles wrote with it. The Paris Olympics 100m champion penned, “It’s Time To End This Debate.” And well, history is a witness. This was meant to spiral into a clash and it did as Tyreek Hill clapped back with a response. This is where things get spicy!

Replying to Noah Lyles‘ post, Hill wrote, and mind you, he did not mince his words, “Time to shut your mouth and take your lunch money [laughing emoji].” Well, Hill’s firing back and he probably believes it’s time for Noah Lyles to get owned. Every bit of the Miami Dolphin star’s confidence is evident in this warning. But Noah Lyles had to have the last word in, right? He did not say anything though, just added a GIF making an anime reference, “You’ve triggered my trap card!” Clearly, this battle is going down and fans are enjoying the hype. One of them reacted with a comment, “Athletes bantering on the timeline is always fun.”

Well, one thing is clear. Noah Lyles is all fired up as he is back to his Yu-Gi-Oh references. After he flashed the Yu-Gi-oh card at the U.S. Olympic trials where he won the 100m race, this is the second time he is making this reference from the Trading Card Game. This time, the GIF he used contains a catchprase that typically represents a warning from one person to the other that they are about to get owned. That’s because, in Yu-Gi-Oh, trap cards can be used to inhibit the opponent and make the duel easier for oneself. So yes, Lyles is making a reference that he’s about to smoke the NFL star.
Not just that, Noah Lyles also recently clapped back at Tyreek Hill for underestimating him. But amidst all this, fans are jumping in, picking sides, making predictions, and getting louder. Here is how they are reacting.
Fans are all hyped up Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill is about to get real
Naturally, the first thing that fans do in cases of such duels is — pick a side. So as Tyreek Hills’ crew from the NFL flooded in and supported him, one of them wrote, “Take it cheetah. He talking too much noise.” Hill and his fans are probably all worked up to present a trailer of why is he called the ‘cheetah’ in NFL. Back in 2016 Hill had the fastest NFL regular season speed, at 23.34 (mph) when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs. So clearly, he’s got what it takes and that’s given his fans a lot of confidence.
However, when you are up against the world’s fastest man, the odds are likely to be against you right? Fans certainly believe so. Thus, a few of them had some encouraging advice for Noah Lyles. “You better dust him Noah !! What better way to showcase the sport.” Noah Lyles has been the one complaining about track and field’s faint visibility for a long. So much so that he decided to stay out of the Grand Slam Track business until they confirmed their broadcaster. Because what’s the point of running a race if no one sees it right? Thus, A fan gave an interesting proposition, as this cross-sport battle can draw in more eyes for the sport of track and field.

Another fan made a rather confident claim. “Noah Lyles can jog faster than this clown [emoji] can sprint.” Turns out that is actually true. In 2023, Tyreek Hill emerged victorious at the USATF Masters Championships, where he competed in the 25-29 age group. Hill clocked 6.7s to win the 60m dash easily. If we compare that to Lyles, we’ve recently seen him go as low as 6.52 at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Also, Hill’s 100m personal best is 10.19 seconds, while Lyles claimed the Paris Olympics title in 9.79s. So yes, Hill is close but Noah Lyles is certainly speedier. But if Hill has fine-tuned his sprinting skills in the past 2 years, then that’s a different case.

Another fan made a wild diss at the NFL star, hinting that he seriously doubts the NFL star’s pace. They wrote, “Cheetah you only fast now when those cops behind you🚓🤣” This was a jibe at the NFL star, who was detained by police back in 2024. The body cam footage that was released from the incident showed Hill being pulled from his car and being pushed to the ground. Although all beef aside, Noah Lyles had voiced his support for Hill back then. But clearly, that is not making fans forget the animosity between these two sportsmen.

Finally, another of the fans made wild speculation, bringing a third personality into this debate! They asked, “This happening at @GrandSlamTrack 👀👀👀?” Well, hardly anyone is unaware of the heated row between Michael Johnson and Noah Lyles about his Grand Slam Track comments. When Johnson was recently interviewed alongside Devin Allen, he commented that, “We’ve already signed our 48 Racers. We have 48 Challengers that we now will assign for each individual Slam; they can come in if they want. So yeah, we’ll continue talking to Noah.” However, he even said that “We don’t need anyone else. We’ll take all the fastest people, but we don’t have to have them.”
So clearly, the Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill dash continues to be a point of contention. But fans are all hyped up for the clash, while they await more details on the when and where bits of it!
