“It’s surprising that we can’t watch our own championships live, which is definitely an area that needs improvement,” Not even a day ago, Grant Holloway had fired this statement on X, highlighting USATF’s lacking broadcast arrangements. The fact that Americans couldn’t even watch their own indoor champs free of cost was highly concerning to him. A day later, nothing has changed. But apparently, Holloway is now ready to knock the biggest of doors. Yes, he is willing to take this issue to the USATF higher-ups!

Grant Holloway won the title of the 2025 60m hurdles US Indoors Champion today! In a blazing 7.36 seconds, he welcomed his second title in this category and ensured, he marched ahead with an unbroken win streak since 2014. But shortly after the win, he spoke to the reporters at the event and voiced his early season frustrations. The biggest issue is: the US Indoor Championships’ broadcast! Until this season, the USATF Indoor championships have always been free to air. But not this time which has rattled a few, including Grant Holloway!

As reported by Citius Mag on February 22, Grant Holloway was seen addressing his concerns after he won the 60mH race. He questioned, “And you remember what happened last year, two world records were broken in less than 10 minutes. So why are we continuing to pay 1099 for USATF TV when we know we can get it on NBC? At Olympic trials, world trials, any other thing, we’re able to have three days, four days worth of coverage. Why can’t we have two days worth of coverage here at the Indoor Championships? So that’s my argument, and that’s my challenge to Team USA.”

Well, that’s one fiery comment! But that’s not where Grant Holloway stopped. He was ready to take the issue up for discussion with Max Siegel, the USATF CEO. “I hope Max hear it. I can’t wait to see him in person, cuz I’ll say it to him in person. But we gotta do better.” Holloway also urged that for the sport to be made better, it was imperative that, “Let’s not try to do a money grab with the $10 for everybody has to pay. Let’s just make it open to the public. Let’s continue just to push everything out and give the world what they want.”

Well, the questions seem valid. Until the last minute, there was no clarification on how the USATF Indoor Championships would be broadcast. It was American journalist Jonathan Gault who broke the news that the USATF TV website was redirecting the viewers to another site, which was showing the non-televised portion to USA indoors for a paid price. But Holloway had urged users even then to wait for it to be streamed on YouTube. “If you plan to watch the USATF Indoor Champs, consider waiting for it to be posted on Twitter or YouTube instead of paying for the PPV,” he said.

And today, Grant Holloway even tried highlighting the prestige of the event. He highlighted how the 2024 USATF Championships broke 3 world records. So a meet of this kind will naturally want to be watched by the fans. Well this seems only rational! Also, time and again, the issue of visibility of the track and field has been highlighted. Athletes like Noah Lyles have openly spoken about it. But still, there seems to be very little improvement. Nonetheless, while Grant Holloway is taking a stand for the sport, he is also continuing his dominance in his event category.
