February 2, New Balance Indoor Grand Prix: Noah Lyles came, ran 60 meters, and won it! But what did the headlines say? Was it about him winning the race? Obviously, yes! But was it only about it? A BIG FAT NO! So what was it about? Something more, something brewing for long! It was Noah Lyles taking a not-so-subtle dig at Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. When two outspoken, loud, and one of the best in their field come face to face, fireworks are bound to take place. But that day it was much more. After winning the race, Noah took off his bib, turned it towards the camera, and boom! It read, “Tyreek could never,” the world went crazy, with X blowing up and headlines picking up. And Tyreek being another loudmouth reacted in X with, “Get a load of this guy (emoji).” Well, he wasn’t subtle at all! Also, this wasn’t the first time!
It all started with Noah Lyles’ 2023 comment on NBA players being called ‘World Champions.’ The two-time Olympian called it out and said, “World Champions of what?… The United States?” That didn’t sit well with many, and Tyreek was one of them. Soon after Noah’s 200-meter Paris fiasco, the NFL star called him out, saying Noah pretended to be sick. To top it up, Tyreek further claimed, “I will beat Noah Lyles.” Needless to say, the sprinter did not like it. Lyles did not even bother taking Tyreek’s name and called him “the cheetah guy” instead. Pure Noah moment! And accepting his challenge, Noah Lyles said, “…if you’re serious about it, you’ll see me on the track.” Since then, it’s been a never-ending feud, and we have yet to see both of them go against each other. But we now have a new CFB star who might potentially race Noah. Who’s the new guy?
It’s Isaiah Bond, the Texas Longhorns wide receiver! The CFB prodigy took it upon himself on Friday to break Xavier Worthy’s 4.21 seconds record set in the 2024 NFL Combine in the 40-yard dash. The said dash is conducted to understand the speed and acceleration of football players in America. With the aim set straight, on Saturday Isaiah stepped inside Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium. But did he break the record?

Well, Isaiah Bond couldn’t come close to Xavier’s 4.21 time. On his first attempt, the wide receiver clocked 4.40, and in his final attempt, he went up by 0.01 seconds. Later the official timing displayed 4.39, which in itself was great, but it wasn’t enough to fulfill his goal. And, naturally, the bragging rights were duly picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver. A subtle reminder on Twitter on March 2 (which the NFL reposted on YouTube with Xavier’s dash from 2024) to everyone who thinks they can challenge him, Xavier wrote, “There’s fast, then there’s me.” But how does Noah Lyles come into the picture?

It’s an established fact that Noah Lyles has a slow start and picks up mostly in the last stretch. For instance, if you break down Noah Lyles’ Paris 100-meter sprint, you will notice that he covered his first 40 m in 4.76 seconds. Now, in case you are thinking we can compare 4.76 to 4.21 straight away, or even 4.39 seconds, you will find Noah may trail behind footballers. But why in the first place are we drawing comparisons between CFB players and the sprinter?
For that, we need to go back to Noah Lyles and the off-beat challenges he has been facing of late. Like the one when Noah Lyles agreed to race 50 meters against YouTuber Ishowspeed in November 2024. Here the price wasn’t a medal but a whopping amount of $100,000. It’s a no-brainer that Lyles won, but it was still interesting to watch. The race was live-streamed on Ishowspeed’s YouTube channel. From the live stream, it appeared that in the beginning, Noah struggled to win against the streamer. But later on, he clarified it was just to make the entire episode fun to watch and interesting.
What’s your perspective on:
Can NFL's Xavier Worthy really outpace Olympic champ Noah Lyles in a head-to-head sprint?
Have an interesting take?
Also, with the possibility of a face-off against Tyreek Hill, it’s very much possible that Noah may someday go against Xavier or Isaiah. But for what and when we can only depend on the future! Coming back to Noah and Tyreek, on the one side stands the fastest man in the world, and on the other side, it’s one of the best NFL players, Tyreek Hill. And in between is their ongoing battle! No, it’s not the battle of race, at least for now! But it may change soon.

On February 13, an exclusive released by the ‘People’ claimed that both the giants can finally end their trash talk battle by going against each other on the tracks. The race is probably going to take place in July after the USA Championships. But do you think they are going to sit silently all these coming months? Because we don’t think so! Well, on the very same day, Noah Lyles shared on X the interview with a caption that read, “It’s Time To End This Debate,” and just wait till you know what Tyreek Hill has to say about it! He quickly replied, “Time to shut your mouth and take your lunch money (emoji).” Classic Noah-Tyreek banter, we must say!
So is it the end, or is it just the beginning? We don’t know. But it would be so much fun to watch them finally meet on the tracks. Not just that, it would be interesting to see whether Noah Lyles will also go against Isaiah Bond or not. What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comment section down below!
